The US electrical grid isn't going to handle every single gas powered car being transitioned to electric, especially as we are being forced to abandon fossil fuels and depend on "green technologies" with almost no transition period.

In the United States we could have built 100 new 1,000 MW nuclear power plants if we used the money from the "inflation reduction act." This would equate to about 100,000 MW, which is roughly 8-10% of the current power usage of the country itself.

But forget about the current nuclear technology for a moment. In the very near future, thorium reactors, could be built for each city or region, supplying 100-500 MW each. The technology could be scaled to become very cheap and they are much safer than modern nuclear power plants. This is what we should be researching and investing in. For the future, we should figure out fusion as that is the game changing technology that will allow humanity to reach Type 1 Civilization status. It would also unlock extremely clean, cheap, and safe energy.

But solving things isn't the point of this current "exercise." We seem to be in controlled demolition mode. It's not about innovation, it's about ideology.

The next iteration of the build back better biden giveaways will probably be bicycles made in china for those that cant afford an EV or to pay the “we all know its coming” tax for operating on an internal combustion engine. We all inow that a new shame tax is coming I don’t have a source for this because they didnt say it yet but Im not a #ing idiot and neither are y’all.

They took a patent out some seven years ago about a reactor that can fit in a pickup truck. What do you think they can do now? Imagine the Middle East or Russia if we dis not need their oil?…

we need the mega factories like the one envisaged by RR producing modualr SMRs, better yet the salt stable SMRs ones under testing.. thats the real fix we need..

we are nearly to the point people will see and get the light..
Rolls-Royce SMR shortlists 7 locations for first factory

it feels logical to pick a manufacturer who makes reactors for ships etc..

I can't shake the feeling that it's all there but not compatible with the current system. the current system will never change, the divide and rule is too deeply ingrained, breaking it might be the only way forward...

the other thing to transition is battery production capability the UK alone needs the capacity to produce at least 100gw of battery storage per year, at present the new volt giga factory will produce 40gw per year so the uk is still short 60gw of capacity per year let alone the capability of keeping that capacity topped up..

in short anyone who thinks it possible to transition in less than a few decades should be voting for the monster raving loony party for other impossible asks..

not sure what capacity north America or EU will need but it is ging to be many orders of magnitudes greater then the UKs 100gw..

like Rome its heading down the path to break itself, we get further from an NWO by the day they carry on doubling down on all the existing missteps..

Yes....could be....

Unfortunately there needed to be new reactors started a decade ago. Nowhere near enough time to build them now before all of the electric car mandates kick into effect.

Here in Michigan they shut Palisades down a few months ago for good. Last month the governor promised to keep it open as long as possible. The owners said WHAT??? Fuel should have been ordered 2 years ago. Election year funnies.

The owners are a company there to disassemble it.

you can't make this stuff up. They went from protesting because it was running to protesting because they are closing it down.

this winter will crush the green mandates as they stand as we simply can not make the shift either not able to charge are dearth of battery manufacturing capacity..

the SMRs are all we have as a first step to make it work and then production capacity to make the batteries to run it all on.

we jumped the gun instead of focusing on hybrids while building that capacity..

on this one all govs have sh*t the bed they couldn't have got it more wrong if they planned to get t wrong..

Nuclear power is like steam power, it's had it's day. Even now the World cannot safely contain and get rid of the spent nuclear fuel rods etc. and that's with the few reactors running now. You want to talk about pollution from coal and oil, that pales into insignificance to the danger of spent nuclear fuel and they want to escalate the building of reactors????????

no other way to provide energy security and provide power at a cost that makes evs affordable to all and a green transition possible..

well the only other way is to follow the green manifesto and reinstitute serfdom.. that wasn't workable in the 70s when they suggested it and its not workable now..

The energy problem isnt so much about how or what you produce but more how do we control ourselves.

So you have a bag and you fill it with stuff but it isnt quite enough, so you get a bigger bag and fill it with even more stuff and now you can't carry the bag.

If we have "unlimited" or massive excesses of energy we will do completely stupid things with it, people will be like i dont care how long i leave the lights on, i dont care how much i leave this heater on because they wont have to care.

You can make the argument oh but the planet, the environment? People lived in caves and tolerated it, obviously they musnt have loved it considering we no longer do that if we can. We would do even more damage by having too much energy than not enough.

The best method is to do things within a persons individual means and needs, if 99.9999% cant understand or produce nuclear energy...maybe we shouldn't. Yeah its long and seems kinda stupid to be like oh so we dont get it, we shouldnt do it? yeah thats right. Unless you want the species to basically die off much faster than projected.

We survived all the time before this, whats the point in #ing all that up when most people are realistically at the same level as people were 10'000 years ago mentally. We've been doing this industrial thing for basically no time and we've already forgotten the past and act like we've had electricity for generations.

exactly my reasoning...''decommissioning the reactors is a Mega-Problem

the cost of deconstruction and to bury the radioactive waste deep below the crustal plate is the only Do-able option

Why not nuclear powered cars?

no matter what any of us think, projects are already taking shape to deliver energy security and change off the back of the current resource wars..

Rolls-Royce SMR to deploy mini nuclear power stations in the Netherlands
extract

ULC-Energy representative Dirk Rabelink added: “Challenging energy market conditions, particularly in Western Europe, have clarified the importance of having reliable and affordable energy systems. The Dutch Government believes that nuclear can and should play a meaningful role in the Netherlands.

"The Rolls-Royce SMR is ideally suited for the Dutch market. At 470Mw, and with a capacity factor greater than 95%, each unit makes a meaningful difference and can be deployed efficiently to either supply power to the grid, or supply power and heat to dedicated industrial users."

I have done this in a couple threads, but here goes again.

In the UK lets use 25% of cars which would be 8,000,000.

An average EV uses 30KWh per 100 miles. Lets use an average of 1200 miles per month.

So an average EV uses 360KWh per month.

Multiply 360 x 8,000,000 and that is is 2,880,000,000 KPH a month or 96,000,000 KWH per day.

This equals 96,000 megawatts needed per day.

If the R.E. Ginna reactor operates at 582 MW capacity for 24 hours, it will generate 13,968 megawatthours (MWh).

Divide that into 96,000 and that is 6.85 or 7 nuclear power plants JUST to run 25% of cars on the road today.

and you have to produce the batteries to power the cars/trucks/busses/trains* and every other gadget..

the only real steps we had was either a couple of decades hybrid change over to allow builing of the power stations and battery factories or hydrogen... we simply can't manage to heat/eat/get to work any other way..

well the other is the Green plan to reintroduce serfdom, a plan that was as unworkable in the 70s as it is now.

Pura and simple....Hydrogen. The Artimis and Atlas rockets use that and oxygen to produce unreal power. I am sure we could miniaturize that.

And, I love to b*tch slap people on this fact.......carbon emissions? Zero. Rockets produce water.
