Do you think Russian Oligarchs and people in power are any different? There is a big difference with cultures in US and Russia. In Russia they kill people.

One looks at Iran sanctions and it did them no end of good in rekindling their defence domestic manufacturing. Same with Japan and Germany pre war, helped them develop local industries rather than import. long term the sanctions will definitely help Russia's military become independent of foreign parts, indeed this might well be the perfect balancing of the economy away from relying on carbons

How is it that Putin always seems, in his speeches, to be more intelligent and down to earth than all the western leaders combined.

In those times life was very much different, we are very much living in Information Era, Hi-tech Era. New inventions just keep coming nanotechnology, AI deep learning, quantum computing and -mechanics etc. The problem Russia has is that they don´t get hi-tech from west anymore and brain drain of 170 000 IT workers who left the country since war in Ukraine started. More IT workers are willing to leave if possible as inflation rate being high in 15% and wages dropped over 6%.

no, I do not want to move to Russia and have Putin as my president.
Still, consider this possibility.
The deputies believe that because of the actions of Vladimir Putin, people are dying, the Russian economy is suffering, NATO is expanding, and Ukraine is acquiring modern equipment.
The Council of Deputies of the municipality "Smolninskoye" decided to appeal to the deputies of the State Duma with a proposal to bring charges of treason against President Vladimir Putin and remove him from office. This was announced by the municipal deputy Nikita Yuferev on the social network. The meeting of the municipal council was held the day before, on September 7. According to Yuferev, 10 deputies out of 20 came to it - this is enough to make decisions. Municipal deputy Dmitry Palyuga proposed to appeal to the deputies of the State Duma.
The decision was supported by the majority: seven deputies voted in favor and three abstained. The deputies argued their position by the fact that, in their opinion, due to the actions of Vladimir Putin, “young able-bodied citizens are dying and becoming disabled”, the Russian economy is suffering, the NATO bloc is expanding, and Ukraine is acquiring new modern equipment.
The St. Petersburg municipal deputies of the Smolninskoye district are planning to send an appeal to the State Duma in the coming days with a proposal to accuse Russian President Vladimir Putin of high treason because of the war in Ukraine. This was announced by the deputy Dmitry Palyuga. According to Palyuga, "the decision was supported by the majority of deputies present." In a conversation with The Insider, Palyuga clarified that out of ten people, seven voted in favor.

At a minimum, many of the actions of Western governments raise a number of questions for the mentally healthy person.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Escalation of commitment is a human behavior pattern in which an individual or group facing increasingly negative outcomes from a decision, action, or investment nevertheless continue the behavior instead of altering course. The actor maintains behaviors that are irrational, but align with previous decisions and actions

Oh, you're from Russia and inviting me. So thanks. I thought you were an angry American telling me to go away, haha!
