What has this generation ruined?

Today an ad popped up. It was a fanny pack, 100% fanny pack, but I guess that name isn’t socially acceptable anymore. HIP BAG. Yep that’s what they are calling them now. I don’t know why, but that name just bothered me. Fanny pack was funny and we all knew what it was. I think it’s also because they are all acting like they came up with this great “new” invention when we all KNOW fanny pack has been around for a while.

I also love the name fanny pack because it is so outrageous for our UK peeps, it made me laugh all the time. Hip bag has zero laughs!

They’ve destroyed music, luckily we still have the occasional resurgence of an 80s track to claim some of the lost souls back.

Yes we’ve all probably contributed.

The other day when I was in the store I was thinking that exact thing. Brick and mortar stores are going to be going away. So many have a few key, expensive items. The rest they say can be ordered and sent to your house.
Uggg. Sometimes you just want to see something in person and not deal with returns!

They're destroying music, film, and comedy. Thank God there are still some rare talents out there keeping the good stuff alive.

Punk rock hasn't changed.

This generation has totally decimated the stigma of being a hobo. Pre-torn jeans selling for $100.00+ so one can look like an underprivileged, poverty stricken orphan makes me LOL.

Hip bag? How not creative at all! I'm with you... I prefer fanny pack. When my kids were toddlers, fanny packs were a Godsend. And my "leash". Yup. I was one of those moms and no, it didn't traumatize my kids. In fact, my son loved it. And he's still here so it did its job!

They have ruined FUN.

Comedy: I can't have stand up comedy any longer. Eddie Murphy and Sam Kinison or anyone would be destroyed by the SJW left if they did a funny act today.

Music: Need not explain

TV & Movies: Can't have a good show any longer without political crap. I want a good story not a lecture about how bad white males are or how oppressed someone else is over an over or watch guys on guys, girls on girls go at it in every damned show.

Talking. I have to watch every word I say so that someone doesn't get offended by what they "think" they heard.

Childhood: Need I go into it? Activist will not be happy until they have children reciting morning pledge to the progressive flag and all identifying as non-binary or gay or the other 20 or 30 identities to include pets and farm animals.

I am sure I could go on all day.


Put it this way, what used to be fun that isn't any longer and you will find a progressive cause or idiots that ruined it.

I laughed at this because it’s true and sad at the same time. There are fashion lines that actually mimic hobos, right down to dirty shoe look!

I beleive it's in tv and video homestly. Especially as we are now learning the lymphatic system responds similiar or close to actually experiencing what we see. Im sure its much deeper.

However I know better but I can't get enough of the quick experience and knowledge it provides. It effects me a lot when I have nothing I need to do. It's like it helps remove a layer of fight or flight response. If there is nothing need be done I lean comfort and im sure it's worse on the younger crowds.

Watching 3 yr olds with a phone and tablet in their face 24/7 is unnerving. More so when you pay attention to the Dialouge on most of it.

Didn´t even know for decades what a fanny pack is till i modded a DayZ server xD For real, in Germany, especially the BMX and skateboarding or even inlining(?, that was always that meh kind of sports for the kids)) scene, nobody ever said fanny pack but hip bag, decades ago and for decades till today.

But ok, we also say handy to a mobile phone... xD

They've always been called bum-bags here in the UK, just searched 'bum-bag' on AmazonUK, and their number 1 (£9.99) best seller is I presume the exact same product but called a fanny pack, if I'd searched on the US site.

Fanny remains a slang word for female front parts in the UK, and bum, is the common slang word for ass, such as "I fell back over on my bum"
I've always enjoyed some of the differences between English and American English, easily amused maybe!🤣

Long ago when those fanny packs came out, a fellow employee, big dude, came in to the steel mill where I work, and he was wearing one. I glanced down and saw it, smiled and said " Oh, you got yer purse with you". He was pissed off. I said hi to him on Facebook recently. He wouldn't even reply.

I just learned now what a fanny pack is. In Dutch it was always called a hip bag.

Lot's of words in the Dutch language is an actual description of the use of an item and some are hilarious when you translate to English. Like "gloves", directly translated is "hand-shoes" in Dutch

Anyway, what did they ruin? Humor, they ruined humor! Almost afraid to make a joke around the kids since all of them are misplaced according to them

Okay, this entire thread both encourages and bothers me. I don't think I'm too far out on a limb here when I say that any ruination that the kidz these days are to blame for, we actually have to blame ourselves because we're the ones responsible for raising them.

Yeah, I know music is generational but the crap these days, OMG half of it is total trash that isn't really music but rather a clashing of instruments. When you look at a song like The Weekend's Blinding Lights, which is about as close to perfection in music as you can get, you realize exactly how bad most modern music is.

Another aspect is the educational system. My son and his friends don't suffer from any of this because they were all raised in a 2 parent home, had consequences for poor decisions and they sure as hell know what a Fanny Pack is.
