I don't know. Over the last few days we have had ongoing coding changes to improve the site. Until all the coding is 100% finished and worked out we may see some of these hiccups. This is just my guess...

So maybe that explains something odd that happened a few hours ago. Before finding this new thread I's going to start one myself titled "The Mystery of the Blank Thread".

I went to read the one titled "The Trap of John Titor's" (Predictions & Prophecies) and found an empty page, with a little rectangle at the top and to the left, bearing the ATSNN logotype and the phrase "Confirm Status".

This was exciting. Since we'd been discussing a certain book, a novel which Titor is supposed to have used as one of the sources for his story, I thought that surely the publishers were wanting to buy the exclusive rights to the thread and use it for sales-promotion purposes, that while the negotiations were ongoing ATS had to make it inaccessible because if the deal was signed they would no longer be able to display it, and that they were preparing to break the news in the ATSNN section.

Then, about four hours later, again the thread was available. Maybe ATS had asked for an unconscionable amount of money and the deal had fallen through? Now it turns out that this was all just a silly scenario. What a letdown!

I think ATS needs a long term break. At least, this would be the most sensible thing to do right now.

If you have a member on IGNORE, then a post they started could essentially look like this I believe.

I disagree the shutting down of the sight promotes nothing less than the show of callous and uncaring contempt for the membership.

If you are a faithful member you should be willing to take the bumps as they come and go with the flow.

If you shut down a site you loose your family members to another more dependable family....you cant possibly see that as beneficial can you?

No, I've never used the "Ignore" option and never will, since if you do that then there will be things other people allude to that you won't understand. What I wanted to know was under what other circumstances a thread goes blank and that ATSNN "Confirm Status" sign is displayed. What does "confirm status" mean???

Edited to add this:
It wasn't just a blank message, but two blank pages, the two pages of messages that the thread had accumulated.
