Has anyone ever tried to refine Gold?

i honestly don't have a preference as of yet... the main reason i think chemical reduction would be fun is because i already have materials, and they're easy to scrounge at thrift stores and such.

Honestly IF i tried digging around in creeks around here i'd probably grow a third eye... but thanks for the recommendation

Mining and things like that would require a vacation up north a good 4 hours away so... basically IF and when i try this its going to be as easy as possible. Though i might just try panning with some pay dirt one day

I wish you success in what ever venture you pursue. One bit of reality we've not covered, but you need to keep in mind that even if you don't go with the proper flasks/beakers, pumps and filters. Your going to still need chemical resistant gloves, a proper mask and chemical proof buckets to handle the waste (as you can't just toss it down the sink/sewer/gutter/grass/creek in) .To form that Button or Bar you'll need a furnace, crucibles/molds, propane (or alternate fuel/energy source).


And thats just the brief start of essentials that is blatantly obvious from watching the various refiners (sreetips being YT premier creator on the subject) . And keep in mind, I've not tried it myself as I'm old school and would rather someone else do that portion for me for a cut/percentage.

A little over an ounce after we took the 'tailings/cons' and ran them in my DIY micro-gold recovery device.

That homemade 3 tiered mini-washplant worked like a charm, one of my better inventions.
