It would be very foolish to underestimate those rabbit's.

Re introducing wolves to Yellowstone was proven to be one the the best things to happen for the bear population and wildlife in the park as a whole. They picked off the over populated Elk population and made more forage for every body. Trouble was they packs will wonder off onto local farmer's lands. I think Oz was overrun with Rabbits and Cane toads (?). A good canine type carnivore might be a good thing in some areas.
