t likely came from a transmission chain involving someone who got the oral polio vaccine (OPV), which hasn't been used in the United States since 2000. The country switched that year to the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV), which is given as an injection. Rockland County is part of the New York City metro area. The OPV link suggests that the virus may have originated outside of the United States in a country where OPV is still used. Revertant strains can't come from inactivated vaccines.

I am a bit confused by this one. Most of us are vaxxed against Polio. And back then, in the before the definition of a "vaccine" had been changed time, we were supposed to be immune to Polio because of the vaccine. So if you are vaxxed already, you have no worries. What kind of numbers are we talking about for unvaxxed people in the US with regard to Polio?

Funny how all these diseases are resurfacing and spreading just after a pushed vaccination worldwide.

The vax isn't 100 percent effective, and there are a fair few anti-vaxxers who haven't been vaxxed, not to mention people whose parents simply never got them vaxxed due to cost or hassle.
Plus, there are large immigrant communities in places like NCY who come from countries where vaxxing against Polio has been disrupted by things like war or poverty.

Welp, you have done it again! You filthy unclean, unwashed, unvaxxed monsters! How could you do this to everyone else?? As if we didn't have enough sickness and death with the deadliest pandemic in human history! You monsters are now causing polio to run rampant in our major cities wastewater, take a good look at yourself in the mirror, then spit out that disgusting unvaxxed saliva down the drain. Couldn't go outside, now I can't even drink water! The humanity!
Polio cause by you filth

Umm not sure if your post was hard sarcasm or harsh judgement?
Most Americans have a polio vax. Even those who refused the experimental
Covid vax, most have a polio vax.
This is where it gets touchy; many immigrants who are not here
legally do not have a polio vax. So, your pointed pointing might
be pointing to protected class of people who are minorities and
also poor, and seeking asylum.

I'm pretty sure they have polio shots in Latin-America too.

It's not sudden or unexpected, it's been predicted for quite a while now due to disruption in vax programs in Africa and the middle east due to war and groups like the Taliban. It's endemic in a lot of places where the US gets a lot of immigrants from.
Take Afghanistan, the polio campaign there has been significantly disrupted, and there are thousands of new Afghani refugees coming in.

Oh, I'm so scared now, it used to be Germans we had to worry about, now it's just germs! ARRGggggggggggggggg!!!!!

If you'd watch the Whitehouse press briefings you'd know that a vax is considered to be effective when it provides over over around 85 percent protection, which is around where the decades old measles and chickenpox vaxes are. You'd also know that the effectiveness increases again if you are infected, shortening the time and the severity of the infection. Potentially to the level that you're asymptomatic.
I don't have access to your vaccination details, so you may be 60-80 percent protected, or less for some things. The shots that you got in the military might require boosters, depending on how long ago they were.

Funny how the pandemic skipped the unvaccinated continent of Africa, but the highest vaccinated countries like South Korea experienced a record number of deaths this year. Seems like its working amazingly well.

That makes sense. So when something like an mRNA experimental drug that people like to call a "vaccine" has a negative efficacy, then it doesn't work too well, huh?
