I found a similar one for sale, advertised as a non mechanical coin so
I assume that means it is not from the mint, maybe someone else
can weigh in more on that.

I was thinking smelting it into it's liquid state but I don't have access to a crucible.

I can't make it to the Church to ask a priest for advice on this phenomena due to lack of travel accomidations.

Call or email your local diocese and explain about the talisman. You don't need to go to a church.

Do not melt it unless you are adept at performing a cleansing ritual.
