Australia, Indonesia sign historic pact

AUSTRALIA and Indonesia have flagged a new era in their relationship by signing an agreement that lays the groundwork for closer ties between the two nations.

Prime Minister John Howard and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono signed off on the partnership agreement, which covers economic and security links, particularly their joint fight against terrorism.
