China has a long way to go. Their boats are rattle-traps, very noisy, which is good for us.

If their boats are that noisy how did one surface undetected within a carrier group during exercises here

The people to ask would be those on the scene.

Because it was a diesel boat laying near the bottom waiting for them to pass over. China has very few nuclear subs, and compared to the US, and Russia they are noisy.

The article says "Chinese sub managed to slip through unnoticed". A Song-Class submarine that uses a German state-of-the-art 396 SE84 diesel engine. If the sub was stationary it would explain. Lets hope your right.

If you knew where you where you were looking at the time there was quite a bit of detail. They heard the group coming and went quiet and let them go over, and then surfaced.

So if a Nuclear submarine gets depth charged, will it have a leaking reactor or will it and its nuclear missiles go off as well? since it is an explosion that pushes the fissile material into the critical stage before the main event isn't there a strong possibility that the ship that drops the depth charge get it as well?

It’s a very specific explosion that sets them off. Just blowing up a depth charge next to a missile won’t set it off.

of 195 countries around the globe only 9 of these countries harbour these monstrosities. Our plan is for a nuclear-free Scotland. Your plan sounds like you would rather reduce us to ashes.

The Scottish dont want UK nukes there never mind yank ones.

Expect protests.

Not to mention us naval folks are a bit rapey, see Japan.
No the SNP nut jobs say they want nothing that is controlled by the UK government apart from more and more money that is.
Wee Jimmy Krankie does not speak for the majority of Scots, either do you.

Get off your knees.

there is a rational reason to dock there in scotland...

seclusion in safety ? Why ? Because of all the super-sized Asteroids wizzing by Earth and barely missing a ocean landing/Tsunami is my guess

Diesel subs can be quieter that nuclear subs. They can shut down completely and make like a hole in the water. Their problems are their speed and endurance submerged. If they can get out in front of a target and the timing is right the first sign of them being there will be the sound of their torpedo's.

One of the problems I have with the P-8 is it's lack of a MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detector). If a diesel is playing quiet MAD is one of the few ways to detect them.

I don't have links, but there was a spate of rapes and murders after which the Japanese called for American bases to be restricted or closed.

The Japanese are a highly law-abiding society and they were deeply offended by these crimes.

And no one is saying they didn’t happen. But they aren’t ongoing, and constantly happening as was more or less said. They were isolated incidents by individuals, not an ongoing systemic thing.
