I remember Fahey. There was this great old radio station back in the 80s out of Gilroy California. And old hog calling station somehow managed to get a huge transmitter up on the hills to the south of San Jose that covered the entire South Bay and down into Watsonville and Santa Cruz and Holster.

It was the dad-gummest station that ever there was. Some guys bought it for cheap and called it K-FAT. They put together a number of ex-hippie DJs from the San Francisco scene that had run away from that madness and concocted this station. They played everything except rock and roll. Country, folk, Irish, Blues, you name it. That's were I first heard Fahey and many many more.

You can You-Tube a fair number of hours of listening to their old broadcasts if you want a real eclectic play list of mostly unheard or forgotten stuff.

Well that was sweet. This is getting me nostalgic for those musics from way back. Do you know Leo Kottke? Twelve Stringer? He kind of hit that Fahey level of fame developing a strong following but never reaching that apex of public appreciation. So much for the public huh?

I played a bit back when. Taught myself. Fool. Being left handed, four years in I realized I had put the neck in my right hand without flipping the stings. That left me with my left thumb to do all the picking my smaller fingers should have been doing. What a miss-step.

Anyway here is my Kottke go to.

OH, that ZBS site looks pretty deep to plow into right now but that time may come along so I will book mark it. Thanks.

I am the author of this thread and as such whatever.

It's party stuff, it's out there, it's not regular.

No melody, freaky.
