www.cnn.com...

Multiple interviews with high-level Sudanese and US officials and troves of documents reviewed by CNN paint a picture of an elaborate Russian scheme to plunder Sudan's riches in a bid to fortify Russia against increasingly robust Western sanctions and to buttress Moscow's war effort in Ukraine.
The evidence also suggests that Russia has colluded with Sudan's beleaguered military leadership, enabling billions of dollars in gold to bypass the Sudanese state and to deprive the poverty-stricken country of hundreds of millions in state revenue.

as if Sudan didn't have enough problems.
I wonder how much of that sort of thing happens in the third world. most of the time?
maybe depends on what resource is available.
(I didn't realize Sudan had gold)

can anyone share insight on this sort of thing?

Why are you quoting CNN?
Are you going to quote Seinfeld next?

Why the comparison?
Because they are both deemed entertainment.
Entertainment is not real life

Soo how is this done I mean the plundering, Russia airplane goes to Sudan, somebody fill it with "cookies, boxes of it" they are full of Sudan gold, soo how this elaborated plan works?

It seems the government of sudan is in charge of the gold mines, or they are run by private interest from UK, like the diamond mines in Africa.

Soo this needs high level of government involvement to be done.

Any chance of actually addressing the many points raised in that article or its sources rather than putting your fingers in your ears and wailing about CNN?

from OP

The evidence also suggests that Russia has colluded with Sudan's beleaguered military leadership, enabling billions of dollars in gold to bypass the Sudanese state and to deprive the poverty-stricken country of hundreds of millions in state revenue.
In exchange, Russia has lent powerful political and military backing to Sudan's increasingly unpopular military leadership as it violently quashes the country's pro-democracy movement.

so, sure, the higher ups in Sudan are in this. no surprise, I think.

not finding alternate source. I despise CNN, but they are usually accurate on this sort of thing

I read the article this has been going since 2014, why is now and issue the is key, why is US out of nowhere interested on this when they know has been going on for years.

I guess is selective information, only to be brought into the light when the time is right, like wars.

I wonder what US is going to do about it.

www.middleeasteye.net...

Sudanese officials, who were part of an anti-corruption body that was dismantled after last year’s military coup, at the time suspected that the plane was one of a number of Russian military aircraft involved in smuggling gold directly from Sudan to Moscow.

The revelation comes as details of the involvement of the Wagner Group, a private military contractor with close links to the Kremlin, in gold mining across Sudan and its neighbouring countries continue to emerge. In Sudan, records show that the Russian mercenary network has secured lucrative Sudanese mining concessions that produce a stream of gold.

According to the New York Times, this worries US officials, who believe the concessions will boost Moscow’s $130bn gold stash, helping President Vladimir Putin’s administration circumvent the effect of economic sanctions imposed over the Ukraine war.

'Middle East Eye' is the source. I know nothing about them.

Absolutely not. Unlike you, I'm completely over this abortion called the news.
You are a shining example of why replacing the news with propaganda and entertainment is bad.
A complete destruction of the country is happening and you just sit here and play brainwashed party fanboy.
Maybe your life sucks, but mine doesn't.
Maybe you're not smart enough to know when you are getting gifted?
Maybe you're just shilling. Who knows/cares?

Ukraine is a political money laundering scheme.
Pelosi, Biden, Kerry and Romney all have children on oil boards in Ukraine.
The press presi-shill is an actor.

You want a discussion about fake bs, while we get ripped off.
Not playing along.
Find someone stupid to respond to.

So Russia is one of the worlds major gold producers. It’s one of the few exports other than grain, fertilizer, and oil.

I could imagine if you were the Sudanese, and looking to develop your Goldfield, that you might turn to Russia to get rock-bottom prices on prospecting equipment. I don’t know that that means the Russians are stealing the gold.

It’s just like, if you were the nation of Haiti and he just survived a major earthquake and the assassination of your leader, you would naturally turn to Hillary Rodham Clinton to help exploit your newly discovered gold reserves…

Are you saying that Western corporations have been plundering Sudan for decades, but now Russia has stopped it, and Western corporations are offended?

Ummm...some friendly advice...

You're out of your league...Mandroid...IS...one of the sharpest tacks in this room...

He certainly doesn't need me to carry his water...however...my observations over the years have earned him a great deal of respect...

He's also spot on about paying any heed to anything the talking heads spout on about...there's no truth to be found among that particular herd...
