The last game in the world that I ever thought could cause a bodily injury is chess. Perhaps, a splitting headache, cramp, haemorrhoids, but never broken bones.

Well, times have changed...

Chess robot grabs and breaks finger of seven-year-old opponent

Last week, according to Russian media outlets, a chess-playing robot, apparently unsettled by the quick responses of a seven-year-old boy, unceremoniously grabbed and broke his finger during a match at the Moscow Open.

I think the robot was well aware of what it was doing... Johnny Five, he's alive!

Quick, someone get Magnus the robot fighter to go put that evil machine down.

Does the owner of that thing have insurance?

Just wait till they put wheels on them so they can move around in public. Oh wait....

What have we learned from this incident? Never reach within the reach of a robot arm without a cordless angle grinder in your other hand.

Chess robot, thats how they fool the people. "Oh look, we have a chess robot", while that thing is remote controlled from behind the curtains. And the reactions of the "robot" we can see are in fact the reactions of the man behind the curtains with the remote control in his hands. Reacting to the scallywag because that boy tried to make fun of the "robot", tried to fool him and even tried to steal a chess figure.

Made that sh!t completely up but hell would it be funny if tomorrow there is a video in the web that proves my wonderful story.

So if it really is a robot we should maybe travel back in time and visit Cyberdyne Systems before they invented the robots which break fingers of little boys.
Cheers

The video clearly shows that the robot was doing exactly what it's programmed to do. It was making it's move, but it had not yet finished. The boy was impatient and not thinking. Put his hand directly above the square where the robot was moving his piece to.

That doesn't matter. It broke the law, so it must be destroyed.

No robot through action or inaction shall harm a human.

I sympathize with the robot, here. Many a time when I wanted to break someone's hand during a game of chess. Or nine ball. Or Monopoly.

I think the killer bot should be repurposed to feed old people with sharp forks.

That sounds like a more credible sign of AI being sentient than the Lambda nonsense lmao
