It's no secret that youtube has it's own version of the "ministry of truth" or "disinformation governance board". Google believes you need guidance from them so that you think responsibly and don't have too much too think at any given time, so look to see more random video disappearances and "information panels" below videos.

Starting today and ramping up over the next few weeks, we will remove content that provides instructions for unsafe abortion methods or promotes false claims about abortion safety under our medical misinformation policies.

Twitter link

Google says it will rely on "authoritative sources regarding health topics". I think we all know the authority they will be relying on, and so do conservatives "typically arguing that the platform censors right-of-center political viewpoints, while liberals complain that harmful disinformation isn’t censored enough."

Does anyone remember why companies started labeling coffee as "hot"? I do, and it seems we've only gone downhill from there. Here's the article link if you care to read it. SMH.

I wish everyone would stop using YT

Problem is it reaches too many people and is a fast loading platform.
Daily motion is too slow and other things only like 30 people watch.

Hold on…

instructions for unsafe abortion methods

What are we talking about here? Like instructional videos on how to do backyard abortions or something?

What else could that possibly mean? My mind would be blown if they’d ever even allowed “instructions for unsafe abortion methods” on there platform… let alone just deciding to crack down on it now.

Why on earth would anyone have an issue with that?

Once on ATS, someone had posted about a countdown clock that was online.

I followed it, and was on the webpage when the clock finally ran down. This is what happened next:

A man came on a video and began talking about the horrors of abortions, and says he felt the need to do something about it. He then proceeds to show an uncensored abortion. I never asked to see that and will probably never forget the few images I saw before I turned it off.

76% of the babies murdered by their Mom and a Doctor are Black or Hispanic.

YouTube is owned by a Racist Democrat (en.wikipedia.org...) who doesn't want more Black people added to the U.S. population.

Can we start with all the videos proclaiming that Abortion was a Constitutional Right given by Roe v Wade?

Let’s not be loose with the truth.

how about getting rid of videos saying that people have an inherent right to abortion? Or how roe v wade was in anyway constitutionally sound? Or saying that the "evil" scotus "got rid of" your "Right to abortion" instead of just giving the decision back to the states.

Other than that, I'd agree that videos giving instruction on unsafe medical procedures should be held to account; only because of my own history in dealing with non-ebm. (ebm being evidence based medicine).

people go out and push incredibly stupid medical advice all the time, like the idiots who say to carry a tampon in your edc for a penetrating trauma, like a GSW, saying a tampon will stop the bleed.

(it won't, and you will die looking like an absolute bellend)

Therein lies the problem with YT as an arbiter of "disinformation". For everything they probably should block, like an instructional video on coat hanger abortion, they also block anything that doesn't agree with their politics, and leave videos that do agree with their politics, even if they are horse manure and provably wrong.

you know that's what gets me, when congress says they have to codify the right, people still think it was a right.
it's amazing how many people think that SCOTUS has the power to make law, when in fact they can only say that something is constitutional or not.

it's sad to see so many people don't know how our government works.

The Truth huh? Wonder if theyll include how Roe Vs Wade doesnt take womens rights away

Or how their excuse of "What about rape incest and danger to mother" are only 1% of total abortions and 99 percent are murder of convenience?

Somehow i doub this

It is by design.

Speaking of design, these are folding aluminum hangers for your portable hanger needs. I had one from the 50’s or 60’s that was stainless steel of a similar design but smaller hook meant for a wire or nail. Not sure what happened to that folding hanger.

But don’t make a YouTube video about it.

I remember that! It was kinda bizarre..

We were all trying to figure out what it meant and what was going on for a couple of days...it was all cryptic and stuff.

I don't see what the issue is here, they are cracking down on content on how to perform back alley abortions and other nonsense.

It's not in YouTube or Google interest to have crack head joe making videos about how to perform coat hanger abortions or that injecting yourself with like 40000mg of vitamin C will cure cancer.

Once again ATS gets caught up in the headline and doesn't actually read the content attached to it or look into further.

I always get a sick feeling in my stomach when any entity that is a forum for speech talks about "cracking down on misinformation".

...instructions for unsafe abortion methods or promotes false claims about abortion safety under our medical misinformation policies.

I don't know how to feel about this. I'm guessing the "instructions" would be for herbal and other plant or mineral substances that can cause the body to abort.

Some will be safer than others, not all will be effective, but all will have risks, some very serious. Especially if women aren't warned or aware of possible adverse reactions -- allergies, side effects, adverse reactions with pre-existing conditions and prescription medications, etc.

I can't blame YT or any other platform for not wanting the liability of that kind of information on their platform. Both medical and legal (perhaps even criminal?). It's more than just political opinions in question.

Having said that, laws won't stop women from doing what God and Nature allows, with the blessings and bounty of the earth. And they can do so before anyone else even knows or suspects pregnancy. They can do it for themselves and by themselves. Which is everyone's absolute inalienable natural right.

And some will. So I would also want everyone to have as much quality information as possible to make the right decisions. To that extent, I don't like the suppression of the facts and knowledge they need to do so.

And I'm a little surprised YT isn't happy to host such information given their liberal proclivities...

Such a mess we've created!

And once again people like you don't make the distinction between what they SAY they're going to do and what they ACTUALLY do

Despite the fact that it happens the exact opposite way targeting conservatives every.... single....time

Thank you for nailing the crux of what I alluded to, but intentionally did not elaborate on in the OP.

I wasn't sure from what angle to come at this particular facet of the topic, but I was reasonably sure that it would reach to the core of that bit of cognitive dissonance that lives inside of all of us, whether or not we care to admit it.

We are a society who wants to eat our cake and have it too. When we are confronted with a situation where that isn't possible, we immediately retreat to the safest and least internally conflicting stance.

I used the cup of hot coffee lawsuit as the forerunner to where we are today, even though there are earlier instances, but I think it encapsulates the mental disconnect many people felt and still feel today when a given situation causes internal conflict.
