Following the sinking of one of their own ships just a few weeks ago Russian ground troops shot down one of their own planes , a $36 million SU-34 bomber , video shows the plane is now on the ground.

A $36 million Russian strike aircraft was reportedly accidentally shot down by Putin's military, according to Ukrainian media on Monday. Video uploaded on Telegram by the Ukrainian military's Strategic Command appeared to show the aircraft's damaged remnants. According to reports, the plane was shot down close to Alchevsk, a city in the Luhansk region, where the battle is now concentrated.

Accidents happen.

Excellent!
Finally some good news!
I guess this means the war is over and we can celebrate the defeat of Russia.
No more worries about this escalating to WWIII and nuclear war, whew, we dodged a bullet, or should I say an ICBM?

Russia has controlled the airspace over Ukraine since this conflict started. So I'm supposed to believe these soldiers all of the sudden forgot this fact and also forgot to use their IFF devices before engaging?

Oooook...

They'll be waiting for the official party line to be issued from The Kremlin before issuing their denials/excuses/false accusations etc.

It was a gesture of goodwill!

Two this week.

It could have been a non accident as mentioned in this thread. Perhaps a Ukrainian conscript from the temporarily occupied regions.

Or Ukraine did it.
Which is worse for Russia?
Incompetence or incompetence?
