Some times I happen upon a piece of music that just catches me. This one did last night. It was an opening piece for the final episode of Monsterland
and I had to find it on the tube. I"m fascinated by the composers ending. He comes near to the end of one familiar phrase with expectations of going
on into the next,,,,, and just leaves it there evaporating like a chimera in the mind, unresolved.
I love piano, always have. My dad raised me listening to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and then his three Three Preludes. After the rambunctiousness of
Rhapsody this Prelude No. 2 particularly struck me entering my soul with wonder at the beauty of simplicity.
And of course, loving the Prelude 2 prepared me for Satie. Satie never amounted to much in the way of massive works and was only modestly appreciated
among his contemporaries at the time. However his two most remembered and to my mind great works have conquered the test of time and I'm pretty sure
most people will recognize them from playing as back ground music for thoughtful moments in movies.
OK, bye.

Great pieces. Thanks for sharing. It brings this to mind. Perhaps because of the title. It is hauntingly beautiful with Hayley Westenra's angelic
