Correct: "hell" is a 404. Beginning with "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." No mention of the creation of "hell" here. Finishing with the Lake of Fire, which even the KJV fails to ID as "hell."
I did manage to find "Hel" in pagan Norse mythology - she was a goddess/ogress who was thought to rule over her afterlife realm of "Helheim" or "House of Hel." It was thought to be the place you went after death if you did not rate going to Valhalla.
Do religions really have to have a god?

Bad translations (such as the KJV) put the wrong words in the mouth of Jesus - for instance the mentions He "made" about hell translated from Gehenna, really referred to the town dump of Jerusalem, a place you can still visit today...hardly a place of eternal conscious torment. If you like, I can play "hell isn't real" ping-pong all day.

I'll spare you the struggle, I don't play ping-pong.

Luke 16;14-31 The Rich Man And Lazarus
Sometimes, it's bad interpretation. In this case, it's all about the nation of Judah (Rich Man) and the nations around it (Lazarus )...and their eventual fates. We know the rich man is Judah because the man Judah had five brothers, but there are other clues as well. A parable is hardly the solid rock to found doctrine on, and I have yet to find solid rock of any kind for the "hell" doctrine. Yes, I have tried. Hell is still a 404.

Ok, but they seem to die and go to places, a place where it's good and a place of torment.

Really, is a parable the best "proof" of "hell" you can come up with?

No and God doesn't have to have a religion.
Obviously, God is alknowing and doesn't need to be taught anything.
