Phil and Rex are getting the band back together with Zakk Wylde on guitar and Anthrax Charlie Benante on drums as the Abbott brothers are sadly no longer with us.

There seems to be a bit of a negative reaction from fans and I echo that reaction but for those who never got to see Pantera (before Phil's addictions) this , I guess , is a chance to at least get a taste of what they were.

But I doubt it.

First time I saw Pantera was back in the 90's at a place I can't remember in Green Bay WI. Awesome times and an awesome show! Would really like to see them again with Zakk Wilde and Charlie Benante. I think it would be a kicka$$ show!

Yeah saw them in the early 90s too , fairly small fairly local venue ... Awesome.

If he'd called it "Phil Anselmo's Pantera" perhaps it would be more acceptable but Rex and Phil aren't Pantera .... never were really Vinnie and Dime were.

It should be a tribute to the Abbott's or something. Calling it Pantera is just wrong.

Absolutely, Dime and Vinnie had there own sound and were damned great live and on their albums. NO ONE can copy them.
My they R.I.P with the other greats that are sadly missed. They're probably doing shows at wherever venues with other great deceased musicians on the other side. I always thought that allot of these guys were immortal and never die. The music never dies, it's always there to listen. I think I'm going to go put on Vulgar Display of Power on the headphones right now!

I expect to see them at my small county fair next summer along with ''Mike Love's Beachboys'' on a double bill right after the bull riding contest.

I think it more likely they'll go on the festival circuit around the world , people like covers bands so they'll probably do well and money will be made.

From everything I've read, it's really only promoters and journalists who are calling this a reunion. The interview I read with Rex was that without Dime and Vinnie, it can't be Pantera so if they were to do any shows playing the classic Pantera songs, it would be a tribute to the Abbot brothers and can't be a reunion without them. Luckily I got to see them a couple of times in the early 90s when they were in their prime so I'll always have those memories. Sort of like I wouldn't go see Slayer after Jeff passed away. The last time I saw them was in 2010 with Jeff amd Lombardo still playing with the band and that's how I want to remember Slayer. Seeing the original lineup instead of half the band and 2 hired guns.

I don’t agree with it....but this is as close as it’s gonna get to the original...if Zakk learns to use his trem bar like dime.
