Cashier charged with murder after self defense killing over a bag of chips (NY off course)

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg charged a bodega worker with murder when he clearly acted in self defense.

51-year-old Jose Alba stabbed his attacker several times in self-defense and now he’s at Rikers Island jail facing a murder charge.

Alba fatally stabbed Austin Simon, 35, a career criminal who violently attacked him behind the counter last Friday night.

According to reports, Austin Simon’s girlfriend got into an argument with Alba after her EBT card was declined when she tried to purchase a bag of chips.

Not afraid at all and since you are okay with people attacking regular people just trying to do a job, I think it’s safe to assume you’re no better than the thief in this story. What makes the ridiculous even more ridiculous is that the girlfriend also stabbed the man but has had no charges at all and is walking free and about. While this old LATINX man is rotting in a cell for this.

The man got one push from this healthy young guy and we saw what that already did to him. It is so clear that he had no choice, man i dont know. Sycos are clearly in power.

He's been released on bail. Thank God people were able to raise the $5,000 so he could go home. I think it's awful that this poor man was put in jail like he was the criminal! He probably wouldn't be alive if he hadn't defended himself. The fact that the criminal who tried to kill him may have very well succeeded is just chilling.

I agree with others that this man should sue the pants off the police for this.

I think the general notion is that no one should be afraid of jail time for self-defense.

Hopefully his case gets thrown out. Assuming the judge has any sense.
