I'm just saying for an area that touts their gun laws over the US's it's pretty similar to what happens.

This does not happen every day in Denmark. The Crown Prince and the Primeminister even attended a memorial event at the crime scene. The reason it was a rare event is because only a few people have guns and most people don't.

If a gun is found in their possession, they're facing minimum 1½ years of jailtime.

...That is just for having a gun without a license. If it's gang related, the jailtime is doubled.

It was the Crown Prince and his son who visited the crime scene and held a speech. Btw, there has not been any more mass shootings after this event. Not in Denmark. Also not in Norway or Sweden.

The shooter did try to call a psychiatric helpline earlier on the same day. However, it turns out this helpline was "closed for the summer". Schools out for summer and the psychiatric helpline too, apparently...

Sane people will conclude that there is a possibility that this shooting would not have happened, had the psychiatric helpline not been closed for summer. Unsane people however, would probably say that the only solution to prevent this from happening again in Denmark, is to give everybody guns.
