Danish police say several people have been hit by gunshots at a shopping mall

One person has been arrested following a shooting at a shopping mall in Copenhagen, police say several people have been hit but refused to go into further detail.

Copenhagen's Lord Mayor Sophie Andersen tweeted: "Terrible reports of shooting in Fields. We do not yet know for sure how many are injured or dead, but it is very serious.

"The emergency preparedness for Copenhagen has been called," she added, we understand in reference to the municipality's crisis response plan.

The number of people who have been injured has not been announced.

The motive for the attack is unknown.

Danish police have given an update saying several people have been killed in the shooting.

"One person has been arrested in connection with the shootings," Copenhagen police announced, describing the perpetrator as 22-year-old ethnically Danish man.

Police say the are not ruling out the possibility that the incident at the Field's shopping centre, one of the largest in Scandinavia, was terror-related.

He was captured, he surrendered without drama.. But the police say there is a manhunt in the works, sounds like there could be more. Not much more info, only that unspecified number of people have been shot some killed and some wounded.

They have not yet said how many were killed, but there are more than one. The shooter had a rifle and he also had a pistol. According to a witness, the shooter yelled that the shots were "not real".

Dutch would be from the country of the Netherlands, the shooting happened in Denmark. I would think that it is not related.

The dead victims are a man in his 40s and "two young people", authorities said.

According to chief inspector Thomassen, police first received reports at 5.30pm of the shooting.

He said there was no evidence that the perpetrator was working in conspiracy with others.

The "two young people" were a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy. The shooter is now in a Psychiatric Ward.

The "man in his 40s" was a 47-year-old russian citizen

Guess I should read up on their gun laws. Since it's from am area that likes to tout that they're so much better when it comes to guns than the US.

The gun was legal, but was licensed to someone related to the shooter. Because we don't know their names, we don't know how the shooter was related. The person with the license is a member of a gun club and was allowed to keep the gun at home. The shooter would never get a license of his own, because he was a psychiatric patient. I don't know how he got hold of the gun.
