To be honest I dislike most 'pop music'.
I wouldn't dream of putting a Pet Shop Boys CD on or anything like that.
But they sounded very good live and got the crowd going.....I think I'd probably enjoy the live experience.

I know people who solely listen to music they listened to in their teens to mid 20's.
They are stuck in that era.

I'm approaching 57 years old and still try to listen out for new bands etc.
Got to admit its getting harder, but there are still some really good new bands/artists out there.

My first love was Rock n Roll, but then I heard The Stranglers on Top Of The Pops and my brother bough t The Bollocks album - the greatest album of all time - and The Clash album.
That was it, I was hooked.
I'll always be a Punk at heart; it shaped everything about me and how I viewed the world....how I still view the world.

But I also listened to lots of Ska, Post-Punk, Electronic music, Mod Revival stuff and developed a liking for Northern Soul as well.
Got into the Rave stuff pretty early and then came Stone Roses then Oasis etc....brilliant days.
Always listened to a bit of Indie etc.
I'll give anything a listen to....there's always been a lot of garbage about, that's truer today than at any time I've known.

I can talk music for hours, but I don't want to bore the tits off you and everyone else.

There's enough # and stress in the world, its good to see people just enjoy themselves simply for the sake of enjoying themselves.
We all need to do it more often.

So we have similar tastes after all, I’m about 10 years younger than you and the indie bands of the late 80’s early 90’s had a big influence on me including the lesser known Bridwell Taxi, the Stone Roses are one of those timeless bands IMO including many others like The Stranglers and Depeche Mode etc..l

I’m not surprised Kate Bush is at the top of the charts right now, I remember listening to the original full 10 minute version of running up that hill, and it blew my mind. It’s a shame it takes shows like Stranger things to get her in the kids attention, but I firmly believe it’s the quality of the song that did it and not just because it was featured on the show.

There is something special about music that connects us to one another, that touches a deeper part of ourselves that the formula seeking manufacturing soulless Simon Cowells of this world will never understand.

First went 40 years ago, this year was number 19. Yes it's changed a lot, but if it hadn't it wouldn't have survived. There's still a lot of the old stuff there, and the main stages are by no means where the action is.

Different strokes and all that.
