Ok, this might sound really stupid to some people on here, but I promise this will work for you having extremely vivid, rememberable dreams! I also do not know what state you live in and if it is legal for you to do, but whatever.
All you need to do is smoke/vape cannabis (Indica strains mainly for sleep) before bed. Do this for 2 or 3 weeks. This will suppress your REM sleep and cause you either not to dream at all, or simply, even your subconscious can’t remember the dreams, or something happens with the hippocampus that affects the transfer of dream memory to regular memory, in my opinion. Then after the 2/3 week period or when you realize you haven’t dreamed in a while, don’t smoke/vape for 24-72 hours and during those nights that week and into the foreseeable future. Then when the vividness and memorability of the dreams fade again, toke up

Do your best to pull 48hrs w/no sleep. Pistachios&Tart cherry juice, one MagOX magnesium supplement with meal no later than 1hr before bed. Also. When u wake, close your eyes, three/four 20min rim sessions are fun.

While proposing the question "where are we at right now" to various loved ones after realizing the lock on the backdoor of my grandmother's house was not the same*made me think to ask an easy question to establish if I was in a dream. They would adjust their gaze to interpret they were ignoring or didn't hear me. Woke after 3 times asking diff family members.

Makes me wonder. Was my inquiry to establish dream/not dream state being avoided. Who was avoiding the question. Who made the lock imperfectly. Who was I asking. "I" know why I was asking, dream/not dream. All me? If so, why?

Side note..every truly lucid dream I would have I'd try to Peter pan fly right off the bat..a few times*dozen probably*.

Latest ones I've been to obvious with the questions. ..think they're on to me.

..yawns.

I second what putnam said below, Melatonin!
And as an added bonus, if I do my rituals (basic banishings) before falling asleep, it makes my dreams even more vivid and often spiritual.

I try to stay medication-free, but I will ask my doctor if Melatonin could help with dreaming, a lot of people suggested it in this thread.
As for the rituals, been doing 'manifestation rituals' before falling asleep lately, to induce dreams, so far no luck.. although this morning I opened my eyes and remembered a sentence, not sure if I was dreaming or just talking to myself in my head... maybe the fact that I had 'dreams' in my thoughts all day yesterday made a difference.

This is easy...... 4 pints of Pilsner Urquell and you will dream very beautifully.

That would be a big nope! Lol, I'm sure it's a very good beer but I can't stand the taste of it! I tried other alcoholic drinks before going to bed, they don't make me dream...

Well I was going to suggest to go down your local Indian takeaway and get the hottest curry you can stand. Believe me YOU WILL dream. Or have a nightmare.

I haven't tried hot foods, but I don't see how food will make me dream. No harm in trying, next time we order out, hot curry it is!

Thanks for the lengthy explanation. I'll have to read that again a couple of times but it's worth to try it. Probably next week when my kids are not home and I have the time and quiet to try your technique. Thanks

Maybe you're subconscious doesn't need to process things, because it isn't "sub" anymore?

Is that even possible?

Any sudden change is likely due to an environmental issue or something associated with a specific event .... I do believe, however, that it is unlikely that you completely stopped dreaming. . …
start with a dream seed, something to put your mind on, and let it go free range for a while.

I can't think of any significant changes that caused me to stop dreaming, but I also think there must be something I'm missing.
What is a dream seed?

It depends, are they any good?

Reading over your op, herbs come to mind. Cannabis can effect dream recall. I haven't remembered my dreams as easily depending on my consumption.
...
Something to consider experimenting with are dream pillows. They're small cloth pillows that you make and fill with herbs to influence dreams.

I haven't heard of dream-pillows but I'll look into it.
As for the Cannabis, it makes me fall asleep much quicker then I intend to, but it doesn't make me dream. I try to avoid meds and drugs, also alcohol. Just don't like the way it makes me feel....

My story is totally different but I've had the same thing happen as I used to dream and remember, now I don't at all. …...

wow, thanks for sharing that!
I have a similar experience. Only in my case it isn't a world/town/house I visit in my dreams but I visit in my visualizations and once I get there it starts to lead a life on it's own, meaning I don't feel in control of the entire environment, only myself. It's difficult to explain.
I have drawn maps, house plans, garden designs, interior designs, all based on that other world! And I also call it 'home'.
I only met one other person who knew exactly what I was talking about, she called it a “Psy-house”

I can still go there, but the last years it became more difficult to remain there for long periods of time, as if I get sucked back into this reality. Maybe it's related to my incapability to dream (or remember dreams)

As for the subconscious, I don't think it's possible to live this life without a subconscious.
I do miss my dreams, I am a creative person and used to pull inspiration from my dreams.

Sounds like you've tried most things, the only things I can think of now would be rather extreme and some shouldn't be mentioned here! Sleep deprivation comes to mind as a long shot which isn't the most difficult to achieve.
...
It's sounds more of a mental block.
If you're extremely good at relaxing it could be interconnected with that? We don't really know what dreaming is all about, maybe they fizzle out when we're seemingly satisfied in life?

I don't like turning to extreme things but I was thinking of making a personalized audio file to play at night that will wake me up every 20 minutes, for a couple of hours. It's a lot like the methods used to induce lucid dreams, and the only way to know for sure if I actually dream and forget, or don't dream at all. But I'll have to do it when I have a couple of days off work because it will make me feel exhausted the days after and I need to prepare myself proper, mentally, to try it.
and oh... I don't really feel satisfied in life! LOL, is there even such thing?

Astral travel, astral projection,... I admit that I have tried it for the longest time and gave up on it.
What is it in my posts that makes you think I am traveling? Nothing I do even feels like it....

It is illegal over here (Europe) and I have tried it. But I don't feel much for smoking every single night, 3 weeks in a row. Like I mentioned before I try to live a med/drug/alcohol free life. In all honesty, I can have a drink or a smoke without a problem, but I also know myself well enough, if I have something that makes me feel to good, I won't quit. I've dealt with addiction 25 years ago, grew up in a family with addicts, so I avoid it anyway I can. One drink is ok, one smoke on occasion with friends is ok, but then I remind myself to stop for several weeks before I let things get out of hand...

I'm working on a sleep-deprivation project, wrote about it in a previous reply.
As for the lucid dreaming, If I could push my finger through my hand I knew I was dreaming. Worked like a charm.

Who do you think is on to you? It are dream characters... right?

Have to say, I feel for you. Dreaming is a huge part of my life, though it's usually scripted dreams which play out to give me messages to apply in real life, it's very rare that I dream lucidly, though I really want to do so more often. I'll be following the thread for insights.

Best wishes to you in your Quest.

But I advise you do so in prayer to your faith.

They say less is more when it comes to contentness lol, idk I figured it was worth asking given the weird nature of dreaming. Stress definitely adds to the probability of vivid dreams so I'm guessing the other end of the scale could have the opposite effect.

How fast is your alertness when you wake? I only ask because an alarm might prove to be too distracting, Dali used a metal ball but anything sudden tends to work better in my experience.

I'd say it's around there where the magic happens. I've always suspected dreams are just thoughts under a brain/chemical-induced sleep. During those going to sleep and waking up moments I can sometimes perceive sounds like they're irl if that makes sense?

It doesn't half wake you up! Haha but what I notice in those moments is that they're not dreams I'm waking from, it's not a dream I'm 3 and I missed the last step then almost jump out of bed kinda thing. It's literally thoughts and sounds/images are being associated with them.

Apparently I'm one of the very few people with exploding head syndrome... Personally I just don't think people are good at remembering, like all things it takes practice. Like your dream realisation trick, what I'm saying is remember to remember. I figure it'll be important for the sleep stress test and attempting to remember brain activity around the time the brain releases it's 'sleepy time' chemicals.

Best of luck and do keep us informed!

Try using the herb Mugwort.

One of the most fascinating uses for mugwort is to stimulate lucid dreams- the type that feel very real and you remember clearly when you wake up. It has been used for this purpose for centuries (and probably longer), even being considered a "visionary herb."

Plenty of videos on YouTube...go foraging for some.

Correct.
But the characters I always thought were projected from my mind*me*.
Being they*me* refused to acknowledge/answer my question.
Why no answer? I remember in the dream asking the question "where are we? Meaning Which U.S. state. ..to see if it was a dream or not.
Could that have been the purpose of the non acknowledgement? ..of a question to establish the validity of itself..an illusion.
If so, it only has spawned additional inquiry into such matters.

I feel someone made the lock imperfect, I reliezed it. Asked a non direct question to establish *state*maybe meaning state of consciousness now that I think about it. Non response feels like a conscious response or uncapable of response.

Idk that dream has stood out like crazy for me.
..think about it too often perhaps.

Make a cup of Yarrow Tea!
take it before bed. oh you may need to add suger.
it will help you dream.
and you must keep a dream book next to your bed.
as SOON as you wake from the dream Write it down!
you can then go back to sleep.
later read it again and add to it.

this will work.
I have done it and got as many as seven dreams.
yarrow has a bitter tast.
get is on the web. or look to see if it grows around you.
you can get the seeds and grow it.
plant the seeds in over grown areas near you.

Your body is interpreting your meditative practice as a daytime nap, though the same inductions could be practiced at your normal bedtime.

I had a friend who stopped dreaming due to smoking weed before bed. Just throwing it out there, because it would be an easy fix if that's the case. Whenever he quit smoking weed he would begin having elaborate dreams again.

Same
I've also noticed heavy Marijuana use contributed to the an lowered degree of expression of "dreaming"
Made me lower my use.

Happy to announce that I have dreamed (shortly) two nights in a row now!

I'm not sure what did the trick, maybe it's because my ability to dream has been consciously in my thoughts and in my meditations more then ever lately... I didn't use any kind of drug or herbal teas as some suggested and didn't change my sleep cycle.

Two days ago my daughter went to the fair and that evening she was complaining about how her boyfriend didn't manage to win her a teddy bear.
That night I dreamed that I took her to the fair and we kept winning bears in the most easy and absurd ways, like I pointed at a teddy bear and told my kid that it was going to fall into our basket soon, then it just fell and we won it. My husband showed up and said "I have no idea how you keep doing that"!

The second dream was last night, a very short one.
In my dream I looked at the digital clock. It was 11:11. Then I woke up just long enough to remember the dream and fell back asleep.

guess it's time to start a new journal

Aaahh numerology!!! Supposedly symbolising interconnectedness and new beginnings if that's your cup of tea.

Anyways I'm glad your dreaming! Soo, teddy bears for the win huh? Who'd have thunk it!

Glad you are dreaming again. I was wondering if your sleep is so peaceful that your dreams are not interrupted and you finish your dreams before waking up forgetting all of them.

I have been having a new twist in some of my recent dreams. Seems like I’m often sitting in a room with at least a few other people with an empty seat next to me. Next thing I know a very hot lady walks into the room in a sexy dress getting attention from everyone in the room and says hi to me and my name and sits down right beside me like she knows me. I don’t know her. I just thought of who she reminds me of. She reminds me of the singer in a YouTube channel called Iron Cross. Weird way to end a few different dreams. I’ve heard everyone in our dreams we have seen their faces before. Not sure if true or not. I’ve seen thousands of faces and do not remember them all.

Teddy bears are always good!

as for the numerology, (this is going to sound stupid!)
I used to see 1111 everywhere, several times a day and got pretty obsessed, and frustrated with it.
One day I literally screamed at ... the universe? (whatever you wanna call it) that I thought it was a sarcastic b*tch for pushing that number down my throat and not reveling it's meaning. I wasn't going to pay attention to it anymore!
So each time I saw it I yelled in my head "ignoring that!"
I started to see it much less....
and now it shows up in my dream! lol

anyway, had another dreamless night :/
