Well ,I can't speak German so the graphs mean nothing to me. But I know the last 2 coal mines in Germany closed in 2018. Apart from Lignite which is open cast and it's softer and filthier than hard coal. And as such Germany has been importing coal from Russia, Columbia and USA.

Well I did look for myself. Your link to SMARD is all in German not translated. I'll ask again, where is Germany gonna get it's coal from?

I provided a full translation in the screenshot, like I said, you did not even look.

But I know the last 2 coal mines in Germany closed in 2018.

Really?

Really? Are you sure?

The phase-out of coal in Germany is coming - the complete phase-out of coal in Germany is to be completed by 2038. In 2021, around 126 million tons of lignite were still being mined in the opencast mines of the four federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Brandenburg, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.

Google translation

You can now nitpick between mines and lignite, it does not change the fact that we didn't drop it all and we are not scrambling. It's all cool but I know it does nit fit your narrative.

To me the last 6 months has confirmed what many of us already knew about the Green agenda:

It was NEVER about the environment.

If it was about the environment, the Biden administration would be trying to increase U.S. domestic oil production instead of importing more from Venezuela (failed), Iran (failed), and Saudi Arabia (probably about to fail.) The Green crowd pretends we need to cut production because it pollutes, but it pollutes quite a bit more to let 3rd world hellholes with little to no environmental regulations produce instead, and then have it imported here on giant ships that burn hundreds of gallons of diesel per hour.

If it was about the environment, Europe would be asking the U.S. to produce more natural gas instead of restarting coal plants. Nat gas pollutes significantly less than coal.

So it's obviously not about the environment. That is beyond question now. What is it really about then?

The only explanation I can think of is it really was about crippling our economy, which I used to just think was a conspiracy theory.

Hopefully Germany had these plants on standby. And not completely shut down, or worse In process of being demolished.

If it’s the former they could be online quickly, days or sooner? If it’s the latter they’d be looking at this winter or worse.

I think I heard they were shut down but in a state where they could easily be restarted.

Which makes sense since these leaders know that Green agenda is bull#. You would only have actually demolished them if you believed the Green propaganda. Obviously they didn't.

So much for that Green crap. Here is a big "I told you so idiots" from D Trump. In 2018, Trump publicly denounced them for intentionally making themselves dependent on Russian energy. They smirked and thought it was funny.

How funny is it now Germany? Fire up those coal plants no while you still can.

Trump accused Germany of becoming ‘totally dependent’ on Russian energy at the U.N. The Germans just smirked.

www.washingtonpost.com...

Trump said: “Germany will become totally dependent on Russian energy if it does not immediately change course. Here in the Western Hemisphere, we are committed to maintaining our independence from the encroachment of expansionist foreign powers.”

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas could be seen smirking alongside his colleagues.

It wasn’t the first time Trump had lashed out at Germany over its gas imports from Russia.

During a NATO summit in July, he took aim at the Germans for the same reason, specifically singling out a planned 800-mile pipeline beneath the Baltic Sea called Nord Stream 2. “Germany, as far as I’m concerned, is captive to Russia because it’s getting so much of its energy from Russia,” Trump told NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, also speaking on camera at the time. “We have to talk about the billions and billions of dollars that’s being paid to the country we’re supposed to be protecting you against.”

Germany will restart coal-fired power plants

www.nytimes.com...

www.wsj.com...

BERLIN—Germany will restart coal-fired power plants and offer incentives for companies to curb natural gas consumption, marking a new step in the economic war between Europe and Russia.

Berlin unveiled the measures Sunday after Russia cut gas supplies to Europe last week as it punched back against European sanctions and military support for Ukraine.

Once the Prussians start burning coal again look out WW3 & the cannon builder’s gears are starting to spin
Im sure U-Boats are being built as we speak .. look out world … The Prussians are gonna make a run for the title again lol

The latest plant using coal for generating electricity generation was started just a year ago (Datteln, Ruhr region). 2016 there had been about 130 plants generating, from coal, 40% of the electricity in Germany.

maybe the greens of USA / West Europe want to export the dirty energy stuff to the third world so we can be nice and clean.
maybe its not the global environment, just the local one.

The fact they were still mining coal is a little hypocritical, I think.

Not really - switching from coal and gas to solar and wind is nothing that can be achieved in a few years. What Germany does, is phasing out coal and gas and increasing solar and wind. In the current phase, coal was to be replaced by gas until around 2040, and then, replacing gas by solar and wind (as far as possible, because gas plants cannot be skipped totally).

Nobody could have known, though, that the gas ran out right at the start of this process, though (but everyone SHOULD have known that it was a bad idea to get the gas mainly from one producer...). So - the only option now is to increase coal consumption again. Nuclear power is not an option anymore, because the plants are in the process of decomissioning, most have been shut down already - and there is neither a political majority nor a majority of citizens to continue with nuckea power (BTW, Germany does not even have final repositories for nuclear waste, only temporary ones).

One could argue that Germany conducted a "nice weather" energy policy that could go right only in an ideal case - but, then again, who would really have thought that the situation changed so much in a short time. Good thing is that Germany is still not a poor country and can manage easily the high (money) price they have to pay now for their (at least for now) policy fail. I am sure they will learn from this mistake...

The “green” agenda is a bs power grab.
They told us it is what they were going to do.
Assholes went along with it.
It has NOTHING to do with climate change.

Reliable energy is national security.
They want NO ONE to have national security.

There's a theory in environmentalism called "environmental justice." It argues exactly that, that the mostly white West likes to push off our ecological damage onto developing "black and brown" nations (this is their language, I'm just relating to you what they think.)

It's rather ironic that most of these Green wackos, who are mostly hardcore left wingers, advocate for policies that disproportionately hurt these black and brown people they claim to care so much about.

Please note that the political spectrum is quite different eg. in the US and Germany. What the US calls "left" would be in Germany near the center, for the German "left" party there would not even be a word in the US . Both US REP and DEM would be considered "right" parties in Germany.

The german green party has basically grown from two different main origins, one is the anti-war and eco movement of the 70s and one is the (not russian friendly) protest movement of the former GDR. Today, green voters are mostly people from social and education areas plus employees of the public administrations, all well-earning and educated people so to say. The german green party has been for years, and is, center-right leaning (since 2021, the german foreign minister and the german economy minister are both leading green party members) with distinct elements of conservatism.

Trump was the cutting edge of prosperity, we had it all. What happened really? Why are at this point now? Don't let Politicians ruin your way of life! Back to coal!

Because he was a dickhead when there was no reason to be one. Trump is the reason that Trump is not the President right now. His childish antics made people hate him so much that they actually thought Biden was a better alternative. It didn't have to be this way. You can thank Trump for it.

Honestly, I think that if someone had taken away his cell phone and kept him off of Twitter, the entire country would be muxh better off right now.

I disagree, to an extent.

Good or bad, it was comforting that we 100% knew it was actually Trump tweeting. Not his "handlers" or his assistants. Nope, that was him, and everyone knew it.

I hate the filtering information goes through before it's released to the public with every other administration.

Biden's tweets read like they were written by committee, and comes off as condescending. Like we don't deserve or need to hear the President's thoughts on things.

Good or bad, Trump had no filter. I honestly think people miss that now.

Some people at work that hated Trump, refused to vote for him and were vocal about it, are now saying they wish he was President again. One quote that pops in my head "At least we knew he was paying attention"

With Biden it honestly feels like he's asleep at the wheel in comparison.

To each their own, but I'd rather the mean tweets than tweets deemed acceptable for the plebs.

But, On topic, I believe Germany was warned, rather bluntly, this would happen. Trump was derided in the media for it, dragged by the German delegation. But, once again, he's correct.

Germany could have already been free and clear of ties to Russia, but they liked suckling on that pipeline teat.

Putin suckered them, Trump tried to warn them, but Trump was Russia's stooge, supposedly....LOL

Yeah, I don't like the filtering/fake tweets. It was good that Trump was real. I just think he could've stayed quiet every now and then. There were too many times when he said things that he knew dam well would just piss people off. Things that really didn't even need to be said at all.

I am starting to think that schizophrenia is becoming more rampant in the political class, especially among the globalist-leaning partisans for the global reset disaster. They want to run the global economy into the ground to reset it for climate change supposedly but they realize everyone knows where they live and so they kind of are freaking out that they will be facing Ceausescu-type repercussions for their global crimes against humanity.

Interesting that about 5 or so years ago, Warren Buffet purchased a complete working coal mine and all the trains, tracks and infrastructure that serviced it, in PA, I believe.

One has to wonder why, since coal was being boo-hoo'ed as such a pollutant as well as being replaced by Oil, Gas and Electric almost everywhere.

What did he know?
