I do get tired of doom porn, I've been reading it for over 60 years. Since 2020 we have entered a new reality if you haven't noticed; forced lockdowns, vaccinations (experimental medical procedures), destruction of social norms and national histories, racial animus pushed like it's life or death, crime rates through the roof, inflation going for broke, etc. We have been the boiling frogs in the slow cooker for a while but they just turned it up on high and put the lid on. America had been in far worse shape than this before. The 70s-80s inner city crime was double fold to what goes on today .
I don’t disagree with you at all , but I do have a different perspective.
The only thing that has changed imo & you might agree , is the tenacity of Millennials/Gen Z .
Everyone after Gen X imo has lost much of the American values . They don’t see China as bad & soft communism is ok as long as they have 18G Wifi & social media .
Humans are becoming mindless non-critical thinking slaves to their digital life .
It’s hard to fix or rebuild something that the younger generation has been taught to hate .
The two largest modern problems in America imo is Marxist public schools & colleges . Individual rights are a must , but the whole can’t be led by the minuscule . We shut State & Federal governance down over 14 yr old kids who don’t know what bathroom to use … or over the wrong gender label ?
Nothing is ever as bad as perceived .
Common sense wins usually, but the road there can get bumpy . Have a good one .

Sorry, i shouldn't have made that voting remark, I have no idea and was being an ass. My apologies. I think you are correct in that most people will do anything to maintain a digital presence. it's become so endemic it is remaking society on a vast scale and causing chaos like we have never seen. It's as if 250 years of scientific progress, improved standards of living, removal from nature and now hooked up digitally we are left with no soul, no sense of self-identity but what they scrape from online. No more dreams, ambitions other than monetary, creativity, spontaneity, awareness of surroundings whether natural or in social groups has been especially damaged during the plandemic. Humanity is hitting a crisis of soul, who and what we are and desire to become. Fear, despair and boredom seem to be general mood. The great thing is we await a new renaissance on the other side of this abyss. It will be painful but we'll get there. Have faith, in yourself, in the world and in the creative essence of the universe. We all belong and have a reason to be.

The pandemic was good for one thing , but it has consequences… and that is many people after being home for months or years with money woes from covid surly have changed .
I agree 100% with you .
Many people realize how much of their lives are wasted to earn money that they throw away on useless consumerism.
They realized ( many ) that their hopes of middle class or more is slim & just how bad the dice are loaded.
Then through the despair there was Netflix, HBO+, podcasts , YouTube, TikTok & Facebook to offer endless hours of addiction through instant entertainment.
Being idle is great , but when everyone is idle , the whole ship sinks .
China has the “ laying flat “ issues as well .
Im near the end of a 30 year career & Im wore out .
Millennials & Gen Z will be working until they are 80 years old at this rate .
One group took more, passed more bills to keep what they have , and that is the Boomer generation.
Im not hating on boomers , most are great & hardworking.. but to deny that they were dealt 3 aces off the get is foolish.
The Silent Generation spoiled their boomer children and felt compelled to as their lives were hard until the 50s . They wanted their boomer babies to never have to suffer .
The Silent generation’s parents lived through hell & back , and raised their kids with real world realities from 1900-1940s . That created the perfect environment to spoil their boomer kids .
GenX kids were also spoiled, but they raised themselves as both parents worked chasing that American dream … Gen X dealt with divorce never before seen in mass amounts prior. Gen X then took their childhood downfall, and vowed not to neglect family over work . That sounds great , but this was the beginning of the Helicopter parent .
Gen X made friends with their kids instead of parenting & thus started the cult of self installed in the Millennials. Millennials are the first truly self entitled generation as taught by their helicopter Gen X parents .
Then finally poor Gen Z , the why bother generation.
Gen X were & still are so active , interested, and overwhelming involved in way to much family time with their kids imo . Thus raising kids that have little self resilience or ambition.

In 30 plus years 99% of all the doom conspiracies have never manifested .
Why lose sleep over something you have zero control over .
There is one thing I know for sure though, and that is the weather has changed drastically from when I was a child in the late 60s-90s .
The reason for this change is debatable, but we should be able to agree on the idea of burning things for power is not good for Mother Earth.
We need modern nuclear plants now !

Yes … no one even comes close to understanding themselves until their 30s in any trustable manner of critical thinking.
Those who think they knew what was up until 1/3 or more of their lives have been lived are lying to themselves..
Now there are exceptions for people who have experienced real grit due to war or tuff lives , but the average person before their 30’s is just flailing about , acting as an adult.
Just my opinion.. Feel free to present an antithesis & we can hope for a Hegel miracle.. lol lol
I also believe that people should not be allowed to a have children until the age of 25-33 .
