I was watching this 'worldcorp' video which I found through this blog:
confessionblacksun.ghost.io...

The guys Defango and J noir etc were talking about the idea of elites utilising Alternate Reality Games to lure young people into the deep web and watch disturbing content.

Kind of a very deep rabbit hole, and I was wondering what you guys made of this.
It started when I watched the documentary about the massive ARG called TITAN:
www.youtube.com...

Now everything is sort of blurring and I don't know what is fiction and what is reality. Like, have you guys ever heard of Worldcorp?
Then there is the idea that that's the same company as Worlds incorporated, the owners of an MMO which is long rumoured to contain a cult.
So basically, are this cult, the Cult of Saturn behind all these ARGs? In some sick test?

What do you imagine all organized religious practice amounts to if not a cult?

Well, but in this case we are talking about people who worship the planet Saturn. That's hardly a conventional religion

Yep. That's actually the thread that lead me to ATS.

I was interested to see if anyone knew of it, or had experience with the ARG

As stated in my previous thread:

Around here I stumbled across an occult concept, considering books. There apparently are books that are stored, in humans. They are not books with pages, but more of a memory set. They apparently use uninitiated men, to store and move these books.
From what I read, this "lock and key" book, fits the description, of one such memory set.

Reality is stranger than fiction

A combination of grifters, trolls, and legitimate enterprise(marketing), are probably the most common source of ARGs. There are borderline cults among them, some are single gurus in the making or trying to increase their flock.

It's often hard to track the real origins because even among that cast of weirdos there are themes they share. I have personally witnessed many people suffer psychological impairment from being caught up in these. It wasn't terrible damage or life ruining stuff. It was observable impairment of their behavior, judgement, and mood. I followed along with some ARGs to observe the observers.

I think andy06shake is hitting pretty close to home on the reason they do it. It works, as hundreds of years of killing over religion proves. You make people believe they need something and you are the only place they can get it. Exclusivity, prestige, status, are all tools employed in ARGs. It can be as simple as praise or attention as a reward. The ARG is just a psychological boot camp really.

Some people aren't cut out for dealing with reality bending games. Those are precisely the people the grifters want. The only winning is in avoiding the game.

Thanks for that documentary link. I don't believe I've seen it yet.

Thing is its never really been about Son worship, but Sun worship.

As to Saturn well he was a god in ancient Roman religion, what your alluding to is the likes of black sun Thule society thingamabobs all the same is it not?

The elite?

Aren't most of just nerds or marketing people looking for new ways to create viral content?

I don't know.

I understand there's a lot of ways you can trace back the origin of the modern cult.

But the only proof is like a decade old. Seems to have started in London. The modern manifestation of the cult that is.

How are modern-day cults any different form their ancient counterparts?

They are after the same thing aka the winning of hearts and minds, obedience and control, admiration and attendance.

As to where they startled, well that's with mans fear of the unknown or unknowable i imagine.

The main difference is people choose to be in organised religion. They have a freedom to shift in and out of it.

Some of these cults get very hands on with the members. So it can be dangerous, with threats of violence if they leave.
This online cult, seems to have those aspects to it, with the rumour of people cutting their arm open, vandalism, apparently trying to incite violence online. This all points to the likelihood that members are under extra pressure or threats of violence themselves.

For a lot of poor sods thats simply not the case, they will never be able to think for themselves or remove the shackles organized religious practice has them in just down to the fact that they are conditioned from a very early age.

How many people have died or been sacrificed in the name of God/Gods, in all there many guises throughout recorded history?

The answer is a lot and far to many.

Im sure this online cult may indeed be rather nefarious TheCaretaker05 but good luck catching up with the Holy Roman Church of St Peter or the like.

I'm not disagreeing with you that religion can have a lot of influence on people.

But when it comes to analysing the negative influence. Lets say : causes someone excessive guilt, or whatever they hate themselves because they masturbate, I don't know..

On the other hand, the sinister aspects of cults like this can be a lot more obvious. On the extreme level when the members end up committing suicide or worse.

Why would people hate themselves because they masturbate unless religion(or the proud boys) attached shame to such?

Anybody that try's to win hearts and minds through faith as opposed to facts is playing you like a fiddle and generally with an agenda in mind, that agenda being control.

If you have actual tangible proof to support claims leaps of faith are not required.

Cults and organized religion are pretty much the same thing far as i can establish.

They are after the same thing that being your mind.....................and don't forget money.

Lol tell us more about your mother and father... sounds like you had a traumatic experience as an exploring boy.

Explains a lot of your anger, but not why you conflate politics into this conversation.

It's common for religion to frown on anything sexual that doesn't happen between a husband and wife, and involve entering through the front door.

Probably best not to discuss how God got Mary pregnant then, coz that's would put the big fellow on a list.

One rule for some another for the rest AaarghZombies, with a do as i say not as i do mentality, and all about facilitating the needs and whims of the priest cast.

The same reason they'd feel guilty about eating a steak or not getting an unnecessary vaccination.

Irrational dogma instilled by people that want to manipulate them for their own gain.

It forces people to be so biased they become irrational and it consumes their life without them realizing it.
