I want to document this before it disappears.

Russia pushes Ukrainian forces to outskirts of key eastern city

You may be required to register in order to access the full article (not recommended), so I've included an alternative source below. The article itself appears innocuous and informative. Reuters chose to include 12 pictures that showcase "one of the bloodiest battles of the war", according to the article.

This is a very fierce battle, very difficult, perhaps one of the hardest of this war," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an evening address.

Picture #4 purportedly shows a "Ukrainian local" in distress after the attack. At first glance, many will find these pictures devastating, and without thought, sympathize with the "locals" of Kharkiv, though Reuters has admitted it "could not independently verify the situation on the ground in Sieverodonetsk."

A local resident inspects a damaged van following a military strike, amid Russia's attack on Ukraine, at a residential area in Kharkiv, Ukraine June 8, 2022. REUTERS/Ivan Alvarado

Take a second to inspect the photo and make note of what you see. Clearly, there are innocent lives being affected by the ravages of war and I can safely assume there are many who deserve none of it. Aside from that, I can't help but question what we're being told after frequently being reminded, either indirectly or by accident (in this case), of the existence of those who sympathize with and possibly give material support to the Fourth Reich (perverted to right-wing populism).

Moscow says it is engaged in a “special military operation” to disarm and “denazify” its neighbor. Ukraine and its allies say Moscow has launched an unprovoked war of aggression, killing thousands of civilians and flattening cities.

That is all.

It should be no surprise, Operation Paperclip allowed Nazis to infect western academia.

The left and neocons are now supporting their Nazi brethren that moved into Ukraine following WWII.

so what does the image show other than what it is?

what makes you say

of the existence of those who sympathize with and possibly give material support to the Fourth Reich (perverted to right-wing populism).

if your talking about the tattoo on his arm and letters on his shirt, there's not enough exposed of either to say what it says or means.

ETA: now that i've opened it up in a editer and blown it up about 20 times i can see the swastika.

this war is about expansion and putin's dream of a great russian empire. it has nothing to do with nazis. in almost every country in the world there are idiots who sympathize with the nazis' ideology* (in america such people have a lot of power and influence, likewise in russia), in germany they sit in the federal parliament, like in italy, france and so on. they are everywhere. such stories only serve as a distraction.

*radically anti-semitic, racist, ultra-nationalist, völkisch, social darwinist, anti-communist, anti-liberal and anti-democratic ideology.

I wouldn't use phrases like "the left", especially when it involves Nazism. Speaking in general terms will cause people to shut down and be less open to new ideas. Being polite and concise to an "adversary" can motivate them to new ways of thinking faster than if we try to *passionately* lead them there by the nose.

Just my opinion. Thank you for yours.

"There must be a lot of Nazis in this region if Reuters couldn't find a photo of a Ukrainian without a swastika tattoo." - twitter.com...

This gave me a chuckle, as did your post.

Every country has Nazi idiots even Israel.

Only one country that I know of has nationalized them into their military and police.

pic]hy62786ca9.JPG[/pic]

Only one country that I know of has Idolized WW2 SS Nazis as heroes.

Only one country that I know of with national mottos that come directly from Nazis.

Keep saying it has nothing to do with Nazis even when those Nazis hold so much power and can be so open about their Nazism even on National TV that no one cares.

The lengths people are going to claim it has nothing to do with Nazism.

it's not a swastika.
It may be the modified version that looks kinda like swastika made of 3 sickles. Or something else. From this angle it could be a hammer and sickle. Not sure what that one means. You dont see enough of it to say it's swastika. Nor if the photo is authentic. Dudes would not wear it so proud to give Putin ammo. I call BS

Well he's a local resident inspecting a van. I don't think we should censor pictures just because there's someone with a Swastika in it.

Is that a Nazi tattoo?

Do you have a better picture of it?

Do you have a picture that is undeniably the same as what he has on his arm that can show it is a Nazi symbol?

What does it say on there?

Yeah. Showed this to a fried who is all in for Ukraine. I must caveat, that I can't understand why people have so much invested in this that they must accept the narrative.

Questioning the repeatedly disproven propaganda of the west DOES NOT MEAN that you are supporting Russia. Truth is truth and must be used in all circumstances even when it is uncomfortable. We know Russia is full of propaganda, but we must also call out the other side.

My friend who looked at it said unironically that it is probably someone who used to be a nazi and doesn't practice any more and muttered about people's (Reuters' ?) agenda.

People forget that once upon a time Iraq was the good guy in a war with their neighbor Iran and we weaponized them. Several years later we went over there to crush them and kill many many civilians. It is not in any way the same thing to question a narrative as it is to support the other side.

LOL, it is a swastika. I was looking at the white parts.
OK, they have a cute little NAZI problem in Ukraine.
It's their history. They also have a Russian problem so no wonder it's popular.
What's the conclusion? Putin good? Continue bombing the cities?
