Netflix aired season 4 of "Stranger Things", and during the first episode an old music track by Kate Bush was used, which has bought the track back into the charts here in the UK but also given Kate her first ever US top 10 hit, the track is 37 years old.
I never really liked Kate Bush's music but I respected her for her creative talent and style, untill Utah Saints sampled one of her tracks "cloudbusting" back in 1992 I'd never really listened to her, they released the track again in 2008.

Netflix Trailer which also uses the song....

Something Good...

Love the Welsh accent...

This song / artist must have never made the radio or MTV in the 80's because I have never heard of her or this song.

Have I been Mandela'ed?

Haha being from Cardiff, I went to such places back in the day.

Roll that one out on occasion for a Welsh pride fix.

She was very big in the UK and Europe, I had a crush on her back when I was a small boy, well I was only eight and also liked Abba Supertrooper which I Thought was about soldiers at the time (only found out much later that it was about Spot Lights not that I was ever a huge Abba Fan, more of an 80's and early 90's music fan though myself, Jennifer Rush the power of Love, Fleetwood Mac, The Bangles etc).

She was a trained ballerina and could also sing, quite a powerful voice for a very petite young lady as she was back then and very talented but her voice is kind of screechy and you do have to be in the mood to listen to it.

This as also a big hit back then.

There are probably loads and loads of playlists of her old tracks on Youtube.

And another.

Her style falls into the Alternate Rock category.

Never heard either of those before either. I assume she was not on the US pop charts or MTV.

I loved that version with the "Welsh" interlude, the Welsh accent always reminds me of my early teens and holidaying in a cottage just outside Aberystwyth. I loved the welsh, they are a warm and welcoming people and I'm pround to have such good neighbours!

No idea but she was big in the late 70's in the UK and continued to have chart entry's over here into the 80's, I think she may have had one or two in the 90's as well but not sure about that latter part.

By that Time I was more into the Waterboys, Tom Petty whom I got introduced to late in the day, Pink Floyd, U2 and Simple Minds etc.

We had this TV show over here that propelled many musicians to fame in the UK and it had something of a monopoly as we only had three then four TV stations at the time, the show was on BBC 1 and was called Top of the Pop's.
This was when I was only three so before my time more or less but a prime example.
We brit's were an even then an Ugly Bunch haha.

Not meaning to go off thread this was just added for a bit of emphasis on how bad and good some of the music from the 70's really was and while this is debatable I believe the 80's was the time of the very best music of my generation while the advent of house music most of which was repetitive crap (there were GOOD tracks as well though) kind of killed music at least in England in the 90's, there was still great music coming from the US though during that period.

We're of a similar age. Top Of The Pops on a thursday night and recording the charts on a sunday was part of growing up in the UK during the 80's.

Kate was huge in Australia, Wuthering Heights, Babooshka were two of her greatest I remember them even when I wasn’t into music, young as I once was.
Funny how a lot of music from some countries struggles with the tyranny of distance, seems a lot of quality Australian music was lost and kept other international artists out of our country.
Lucky, Kate made it down here

It's a great song so it deserves a second run at the charts.... given the crap that's in there now.

Bit cringe worthy to remember how Jimmy Saville hosted some of the episodes.

Remember The Hit Man and Her late nights or the Word, those were two seminal shows with the Word frequently going too far but they both had some great music.

Then we got SKY and were introduced to MTV.

Great point's, I loved a band called Yothu Yindi and it's a shame they were not more of a hit around the world, Aus has produced some great artists.

Aus has produced some great artists.

AC/DC , INXS , Men at Work , Midnight Oil , Kyle and Jason ..... OK perhaps not Kyle and Jason but Men at Work were seriously underrated , probably because most thought Land Down Under was a novelty song which it really wasn't.

Saville has dirtied my memories of Top Of The Pops a little. I'm glad I was a little to young to remember alot of his episodes.
The word was so amazing at the time, I loved it and the contraversy it caused!!

You have to respect Kate for her creativity and also how she controlled her own music.

ETA
She was a trained dancer and choregraphed her own moves, produced her own music, a very smart lady.

I am pretty sure Downunder was a pisstake on Australia but, catchy, irreverent and played to the Aussie laconic humour, so was made a national anthem of the day.

Think you would need to be an Aussie to get Australiana
Not to steal anything from lovely Kate

Love Kate Bush! Class act from a very unique musician.
Still have her Hounds of Love LP!

Go Kate!
Rainbows
Jane
PS, a very private lady who I believe didn't really take to all the fame.
