The hours requirements are absolutely required IMO. We saw what happens when you have a low hour pilot in one seat with the Lion Air and Ethiopian Max
crashes. They’re barely capable of doing more than reading the QRH. The ATP-CTP forces that hours requirement. Fifteen hundred hours might be
excessive, but I’d much rather see a pilot with over a thousand hours in the seat than one with three hundred.
