Thanks for ending the “misinformation “.
You additions here are always welcome.

RickInVA refuted something that I did not say and posted confirmational details of what I did say.

Total BS as usual....okay spin doctor here you go:

1. Hillary used her own store bought blackberry.
2. There were no encrypted blackberrys approved by NSA.
3. She ran her own personal Enterprise server that the State Department was not aware of.
4. Blackberry's were known to be easily compromised.

If you care to do the research, you will find that almost anything a SOS would say would be at the minimum Unclassified but sensitive due to the nature of the job. That information is on the State Departments web site.

You claim that her blackberry was encrypted so that if it fell into the wrong hands, they wouldn't be able access it is 100% bovine fecal matter.

Wasn't she hacked overseas multiple times also? I remember it was also rumored that her lapses caused intel leaks leading to the killing of Seal Team 6 in Afghanistan. She was SecState at the time.

And I said that she used a Blackberry when she was Secretary of State. You were saying the same thing? I never said who supplied it.

All Blackberrys of that vintage come with at least sMAPI and AES 232 encryption 'baked in' to the OS and with 'chip-level' encryption.

2. There were no encrypted blackberrys approved by NSA.

and, I never said that they were, or weren't.

3. She ran her own personal Enterprise server that the State Department was not aware of.

She ran a Windows server at her home with the Exchange e-mail program installed. They are both consumer items and are not illegal.

What Clinton did that was probably illegal, and definitely stupid, was to use them for relaying government communications, some of which were classified 'secret' or 'top secret'.

Although I cannot verify if the versions were 'Enterprise' licenses, I suspect that they may not have been, and that she was running Windows Small Business Server 2004, which comes with Exchange as part of the license.

4. Blackberry's were known to be easily compromised.

At the time, Blackberrys were one of very few mobile devices with encryption, however, the security and encryption were not up to the government standard for a 'sensitive compartmentalized information facility' (SCIF), and so the NSA was concerned that the Blackberry may potentially be used to re-broadcast things later that should stay inside the SCIF. Additionally, while within the SCIF, radio comms were blocked (it is a Faraday cage), and so a Blackberry would not work. To open the SCIF up so a Blackberry did work there, would compromise the SCIF.

But her Blackberry used encrypted communications and there was even a module added to the Exchange server to allow secure e-mail communications to and from Exchange and Blackberry devices.

But here's a few facts:

Blackberry OS and the later Blackberry 10 versions, encrypts its 'on-device' files, and its communications (admittedly not up to SCIF standards) - it just does:

From a 2016 USA Today article: "For years, the BlackBerry was the device of choice for those wanting strong security. They provided a secure network and chip-level hacking protections that others lacked. BlackBerrys have been fully encrypted for at least a decade". (click the text, it links to the article, the relevant text is towards the end of the article and I have added emphasis to the quoted text).

(From 2016) - BlackBerry Devices: Secure As They Have Always Been

Also, in 2010, India did not want Blackberry phones available to the general public because it was concerned that its government agencies could not crack the encryption, and so the 'phones could be used by terrorists for secret communications: BlackBerry encryption 'too secure': National security vs. consumer privacy - ZDNet (article from 2010)

So, clearly, you are wrong regarding Blackberry encryption.

Secondly, you stated that no Federal agency had approved or distributed Blackberry devices. Here's an article from 2013 that says just the opposite: BlackBerry smartphones still reign in Washington, slow-poke capital - The Washington Post

Additionally, you claimed to have been "responsible for switching over 750 Nextel phones to blackberries after Nextel lost the bid" (it was unclear who was selling the Blackberries to whom). Nextel did not have phones of its own (it was a network carrier), and it on-sold phones from several manufacturers, including Blackberry. Nextel Communications From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nextel's network was shut down in 2013, but the company was absorbed by Sprint Communications in 2005. So, if Nextel closed up in 2005, I wonder how relevant a pre-2005 'phone contract must have been to the situation after 2009, when Clinton became Secretary of State? Hillary Clinton From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I admit, I have no special insider knowledge apart from being an IT Systems Engineer predominantly of 'wintel' systems similar to those involved, for some years, but there are several things in your assertions that do not sit well with known facts (Please reference someone other yourself when refuting any of this).

I don't need to source anyone but myself. I was a SCIF manager for years as one of my duties.

Again:

1. There were no blackberry approved for classified use by the NSA. Any encryption other than one issued by the NSA is null and void.

2. She ran her own Enterprise server without the State Departments knowledge.

3. She ran a Microsoft exchange server on a network without any NSA approved encryption to which her blackberry was tethered. Again without the knowledge of the State Department.

4. There was a SCIF in her residence, but she very seldom used it.

This is the last time I am going to post about this, we went over all this years ago on ATS. You can try to spin all you want but the facts just don't change.

Granted, that was partly true, but by definition, any encryption scheme is automatically classified as a munition, and therefore under the purview of the NSA. Here's a bit of history for you: This Tee Shirt is a Munition

Also, if the NSA does not already have key escrow of an encryption scheme, they would be deeply concerned with cracking it (for intelligence gathering purposes).

Additionally, here's the NSA archived approved devices page, stating that some Blackberry phones were removed from approval (i.e: they previously had approval) on 29 Oct 2020: National Security Agency/Central Security Service - Archived Components List

Also, several Blackberry services are still on the current NSA approved components list (Blackberry phones have been out of manufacture for some years, so they wouldn't be there): National Security Agency/Central Security Service - Approved Components Lists

This doesn't mean that there were any Blackberry phones on the approved components list at the time Clinton was SoS, but you might want to qualify your previous statement.

2. She ran her own Enterprise server without the State Departments knowledge.

You are saying "Enterprise" like it is something meaningful. Enterprise what? Windows NT 4.0? Windows Server 2003? Windows Server 2003 R2? Windows Server 2008? Windows Server 2008 R2? Red Hat Linux? SUSE Linux Server? All of those have "enterprise" versions.

But also, Isn't the Secretary of State the head of the State Department? And what of the other State Department employees using e-mail addresses hosted on her server? Clearly, the State Department and President Obama, knew that she and others in the State Department were not using State Department supplied official e-mail addresses?

Also, having a private server was not illegal at the time, and the two previous administrations also extensively used private servers for government business. Have you forgotten: Bush White House email controversy From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ?

The servers at the Clinton residence, two PowerMac's and two Dell servers (one of which, a Dell PowerEdge 2900, running Windows and Exchange, was the e-mail server in question) and were all housed within the SCIF in the basement. Surely, if these servers weren't legit, then the SCIF manager was to blame for not alerting that they weren't, and doing something about it?

3. She ran a Microsoft exchange server on a network without any NSA approved encryption to which her blackberry was tethered. Again without the knowledge of the State Department.

The private server was running inside the SCIF and was compliant with ICD 704.

The e-mails on her private server were never hacked. It was the State Department and DNC servers that were later hacked.

4. There was a SCIF in her residence, but she very seldom used it.

The 'non-State Department' e-mail server was inside the SCIF, in her residence, in the basement. She was relaying e-mails through it all the time.

This is the last time I am going to post about this, we went over all this years ago on ATS. You can try to spin all you want but the facts just don't change.

A SCIF manager would be intimately concerned, on a day-to-day level, with the software versions, and security patching of servers and devices within the SCIF. Similarly, they would be concerned with the security of off-site copies of backups. This would be the bread and butter of their job!

This level of knowledge of specific technical detail of the systems usually contained in a SCIF, does not seem to be reflected in your posts.

You are so full of yourself...you actually have no idea what you are talking about. You are aware that she was offered a State Department Blackberry and a .gov email but she refused.

Everything she did was a poor attempt to bypass FOIA requests.

I could go on and on.

Hillary's server WAS NOT in a SCIF. She very rarely used it and it was left open. She had a maid retrieve fax's in the SCIF for her.

If her server was in a SCIF, then that is a huge violation because it did not have proper NSA approved encryption, why the hell do you think the FBI had to do an investigation into the classified emails on her server?

You are trying to rewrite history, but failing miserably.

Since none of this has anything to do with the original OP, I am done. Have a nice day. Personally, I don't give a rats behind what you think. Especially coming from a foreigner.
