German Economy and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck said Monday at the World Economic Forum in Davos that lifting sanctions against Russia is out of the question, even if it would mean the loss of 100,000 lives, RT reports. However, in view of the aggravation of the hunger crisis, which is exacerbated by the blockade of trade across the Black Sea, Habeck is advocating not to start negotiations with Russia. According to the UN World Food Programme, there is a danger of a major famine and rising food prices around the world. These statements may be reminiscent of a now-legendary interview by former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright about US sanctions against Iraq. In it, Albright stated that the deaths of more than half a million Iraqi children were worth the price.
