About 10% of people. I regularly come into contact with 6 cats.

Cats are the only true hosts.

At least half of all people will test positive for this parasite. That's an underestimate.

Very rarely will somebody be so careless to pick up cat turds with their bare hands, and then rub their eyes.

Pet cats cannot account for the prevalence of this parasite.

So far, markovian's suggestion that it comes from rotting meat seems the most accurate.

I happen to think it is a peripheral issue resulting from heart failure which most people start to experience bit by bit starting around the time of puberty. People becoming spoiled and corrupted. Basically slowly rotting meat.

Of course, pretty much nobody wants to admit the obvious, that those having the most sex are the ones becoming the most infected.

Conversely, they are probably also the ones having the most fun.

Tell you one thing InachMarbank, i don't imagine many people get to the end of their existence, and think i wish i had not had so much sex.

And its not half the people on the planet but more like a third that are apparently chronically infected with the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii.

The world is somewhat larger than the USA all the same.

Apparently, if you have a strong immune system, most people will never even realise they are infected because symptoms don't manifest.

And its not even limited to Humans or Cats as the Toxoplasma gondii infects most species of warm-blooded animals.

Meh, you haven't spent enough time with the new age spiritual nutters, it's a very common theme to shun orgasms, especially male ones that end up in a napkin... you'll find some form of orgasm shaming in most spiritual practices, there is a reason as to why, although this is the place it isn't the time.
