There is an 'Internet 2', which is basically a seperate highspeed network that links a lot of universities around the world. Its not directly
accessable from our internet, you have to either have a pipe directly connecting you in to it or you need to be at a university. We are talking
Gigabit pipes (round about 1000x a standard 1mb broadband connection these days) and some very cool routing tech.
However, that article is definately an April Fools
