We are all well aware of Biden's new "Disinformation Governance Board", and the administration's excuse reason for its existence...

“The spread of disinformation can affect border security, Americans’ safety during disasters, and public trust in our democratic institutions,” the department said in a statement. DHS said that the board will “protect privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties” as part of its duties.

Right. Whose privacy, rights, and liberties?

We are also aware the administration has taken a lot of heat over its legalities and timing. Statements such as this one...

“Adolf Hitler had a Ministry of Truth. Joseph Goebbels had a Ministry of Truth. Joseph Stalin had a Ministry of Truth. Joseph Biden has a Ministry of Truth,” tweeted Errol Webber, GOP congressional candidate in California.

...are becoming commonplace, but what I haven't seen discussed more frequently is what was "unveiled" the same day as the DGB, the international “Declaration for the Future of the Internet”

The document outlines ideas for “reclaiming the promise of the Internet” and US officials described it as an effort to counter the practices of countries including China and Russia.

“Access to the open internet is limited by some authoritarian governments and online platforms and digital tools are increasingly used to repress freedom of expression and deny other human rights and fundamental freedoms

50 countries have thrown their support behind a document that entails this administrations plans to fight another war. A war on disinformation. Those of us old enough to remember previous wars on drugs and terror know full well the results we can expect from the U.S. government, but what about the results from 50 governments? Musk has already been warned by the EU about "lax moderation" which can be read as, not enough censorship, in my opinion.

Note that this document does not prescribe a "remedy" for disinformation, but rather says...

“Exposure to diverse content online should contribute to pluralistic public discourse, foster greater social and digital inclusion within society, bolster resilience to disinformation and misinformation, and increase participation in democratic processes,”

What!? This sounds like doublespeak, or at best gobbledygook (Google it).

Bottom line: The war on "disinformation" is now officially announced. Every president needs a war, and this is Joe's. This is not about Russia or China, this is about YOU, and what you're allowed to know, as well as what you're allowed to think about what you're allowed to know...in 50 countries working in concert.
"The hall is rented, the orchestra engaged. It's now time to see if you can dance." - Q from Star Trek

Addendum: It is my contention this will be left in place whether or not Republicans take the house and senate. Trying to do away with it will take months, if not years, as well as several court cases. The fact that the administration has set it up as a treaty of sorts with other countries further entrenches it. And if pushed on it, this will be the Republican reasoning for not tackling it immediately. I'd love to be wrong, but we'll see what happens...

Yeah, this is ripe for propaganda, no question.

I don't really have a problem with a higher level of Politifacts or Snopes, dedicated to addressing accusations and conspiracy theories and supplying facts from both sides. However, such an organization needs to be completely non-biased and non-political. You can't do that with a committee appointed by a political figure and/or that answers to politicians.

it's refreshing to know there is a line somewhere. I suppose time will tell if it's real or lip service.

An interesting, and telling, quote from our new Ministry of Truth czar head of the "Disinformation Governance Board."

"The free speech vs censorship framing is a false dichotomy." Nina Jankowicz

Think about that for a moment...or two.

As with all things, and the extreme amounts of idiots posting everything they think is "truth" on their respective social media outlets...

Did anyone not see this coming?

The current administration has a hard time managing Bidens pitfalls as is. What else can we expect?

For one...I see lots of ATS content being somehow "disappeared".

The biggest threats to border security, Americans’ safety during disasters, and public trust in our democratic institutions in History has been the current Administration's lies and ass backwards info 😎

Figures & forces of logic and rationality in western society would be wise not to underestimate this person, or the threat that she represents. She seems competent, talented, charismatic; also blindly idealistic and totally sociopathic. The splash she has made since walking on the scene a week ago reminds me of something very specific. In '06-'07, a competent, charismatic young gentleman gave an excellent response speech to GWB's SOTU address, and there was a lasting buzz around him afterwards... his name was Barack Obama.

When the Homeland Security Act was passed in the name of “terrorism” which brought forth the birth of the DHS, I remember thinking how it could and probably would eventually be misused against the citizens of this country. Low and behold twenty years later here we are.

Considering the source, this made me spit my coffee.🤣 Border security, what border security?

People considered to be terrorist by the Biden administration:
Parents that oppose the sexual grooming of their children
People that oppose CRT
Those that support 1A
Those that support 2A
Those that support 4A
People that want criminals held accountable
Anyone that has dissenting and opposing opinions and views against the Democrat Party
Citizens that want our borders secured
People that want affordable energy with our current infrastructure
Any Red state in the Union
Anyone that opposes BLM and ANTIFA
Any media outlet or social media platform that doesn’t toe the Democratic Party line
Christians and conservatives
Anyone that questions election results

I could go on but just a few things off the top of my head🤬

Great... so they agree the internet should be free and accessible to everyone, and all of our diverse opinions deserve a chance to be heard, even if we don't agree with those opinions, right? I've always found it remarkable how the government says one thing, then manages to do the complete opposite. Gobbledygook indeed.

Probably pretty safe to expect that there will be a huge increase on people being arrested for their search histories or comments on social media.
