I have no doubt your research is probably absolutely accurate but most of us are taking this thread a bit tongue in cheek and with a bit of humour.

History may have been unfair to the real Rasputin though, he was regarded as a failed monk and was a mystic born of peasant stock.

He may have changed the course of history if he had lived, certainly for example before the communist revolution an agreement with IMPERIAL Russia had ceded Constantinople to Russia when the allies (including Russia) won the war against Germany and it's allies the Ottoman Empire so history may have been very different indeed had the Revolution of 1917 not happened.

Much of the real Rasputin's reputation was obvious slander, he exerted influence over the Tsar and his family and that upset some of the ruling elite, perhaps had Rasputin lived he would have brought the Tsar closer to his people but it was not to be and in the end he was murdered and Russia fell to a Godless revolution.

If you listen to that Boney M song it was repeating the legend's about Rasputin that were probably mostly based on lurid lies and slander spread by his political enemy's whom could not stand a peasant having more power than they had.
(Still it's Boney M so a great song from the 70's).

History falls into darkness when people reject God, I have no doubt that OUR west will enter an age of decline precisely because of this very factor and I do seriously ponder the idea that Rasputin may have indeed been a man of God rather than the devil he is portrayed to be by most sources quoting from biased sources of the period though he was NO saint as his cures on little Alexei did not last and a real saint's healing - which comes from God - would have been permanent, but maybe Little Alexei represented Russia and it's Illness at that time?.
