When did ATS become so right wing minded and politically motivated?

If you don't like what has happened to ATS, no one is forcing you to stay.

No one is forcing you to read political articles and OP's.

You are choosing to upset yourself by reading them.

Simple solution. Don't read stuff that upsets you.

Go to sites that will always agree with you if you can't stand anyone saying something that doesn't agree with your religion of liberal ideology. Try facebook, twitter, and watch CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, read the NY Times and Atlantic. Comment on their articles, and you will feel much calmer and more at peace if having people disagree with your religion upsets you.

So its not okay to ask a question. Got it.

There's always been a strong right lean here (been a regular since around 2009, but didn't make an account till few years later), but back then the discourse was much more civil and people actually cared about facts and sources.

Around the 2016 election the far right aspect increased exponentially, along with all the shady facts and meme'politics (similar to social media, etc).

Just my opinion as a long time visitor.

Edit - Politics in general has increased rapidly here since the later part of Obama's 2nd term, and then increased quite a bit in 2016. Nowadays the vast majority of new topics are politics.

Yes! I remember ATS when the members were serious about "Civility and Decorum" and aversion to one-line posts. The Political Mud Pit and other political forums were created in an attempt to contain the vitriolic substanceless posts that diverted from thread topics, but the effect was normalization and spill over into the other boards.

I see now a great lack of concern for source quality, and even thread titles that are not even supported by sources offered. My opinion is there is a great deal of similarity with 4chan in bickering and squabbling and political meme image posting and even advocation and justification of violence.

Good comparison. ATS has become like 4 chan minus the incel culture (or so I believe) and extremism.

Was gonna copy and paste the stats but here are the stats that say otherwise regardless of how it appears.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

What stats is this trying to show?

Did you scroll down? it shows every forum and its post per thread count

for example more topics and posts on Aliens and UFOs than US Political madness and only slightly 6 more posts per thread for UPM over AAUFOs

Origins and Creationism
2012
Posse Comitatus
9/11 Conspiracies
Conspiracies in Religions
ATS Skunk Works
World War Three
all have more posts per thread than the US Political Madness forum

It is fine to ask a question.

It is also fine to answer a question with a response that people like you, don't like.

My answer never said not to ask a question, it said if he didn't like a OP, don't read it if it gets him so very upset. He has the option to read or not read, his choice. If he chooses to read something with a title that makes it clear the subject is one that makes him upset and then complains that the subject upsets him, well he did it to himself, he upset himself, no one did it to him.

He has the option to write an question or not, his choice.

I have the option to answer a question, even if the OP and you will not like the answer.

Or is are you saying that I should not answer a question if the OP and you won't like the answer? That is a very liberal, alt-left point of view these days for sure.

So are you saying that alt-left points of view should be allowed. I agree wholeheartedly because as a conservative I believe in free speech, even if I don't like the speech.

But also are you saying that conservative answers should not be allowed? Because that is a very liberal/progressive idea these days that the only free speech allowed is speech they approve of 100% and falls under the approval of the Pharisees of liberalism?

I know I read a great deal into your little sentence just as you read into mine what wasn't there.
