No Russians are not being persecuted. That is a Russian lie.
No Ukraine is not engaging in ethnic cleansing - That is a Russian lie.
Zelenskyy's issue is with the Russian government and the Russian armed forces and he has nothing against Russian people.

Why is Russia engaging in ethnic cleansing / genocide in Mariupol?

I think that would be hard to explain. I am still trying to figure out why Ihor Kolomoyskyi a Jewish man and self-described godfather of Ukraine funded Nazi Battalions like Aidar, Azov, Dnipro, and Donbas militias or why he has a swastika hanging over the entrance of one of his businesses.

Western countries are discussing giving Ukraine access to all the money that was seized from Russia (reserves - $300 billion). Its also been suggested that all seized oligarch items be auctioned off with Ukraine receiving the proceeds.
