my gf was in the house

trust me a gun was in arms reach, 00 brass buck shot should put anything thing down at close range. If someone popped my door open in an aggressive way or if i called out and no one answered and the door opened my finger would have been on the trigger.

i was pretty confidant it want a real criminal as the alarm and my GF weren't going crazy.

i also wanted to get a picture of what i was seeing

i woke up to it so i wasn't sure what it was and i didnt hear any glass or someone kicking a door in my first thought was the start of an electrical fire..

Is it LED or incandescent? Take a picture with it off and the lens removed.

Yeah, that's what I figured and I think I know why you saw what you did.

LED's are made to operate in the 550-600nm range which is a warmer color they achieve by coloring the diode with phosphorus. You know what color they are before that? Blue/violet. Which is in the 450nm range and close to the bottom of the visual spectrum.

When an LED fails it burns the phosphor out and it turns blue. This can be gradual or instant and can last hours/days or if it's being highly overdriven can burn out in seconds.

Open the door and jump into the light ! I used to be scared but now I confront things like this head on no religion I figure I'll be on the other side soon enough so why not ask my soon to be new friends some questions . However since I took that stance my Paranormal encounters have all but gone , Guess I'm not fun to play with anymore .

very possible, they are brand new so one of them could have a problem.

there is a switch on the ballast to make it warmer or cooler

i always opt for the redder side of LED lights, the one in the hall is 27000K and the 'bluest' is 40,000K.

here is a video of me flipping it to the 'bluest' setting there is

you can see when i flip it it is blueish but on the walls it is clear that it isn't really blue.

I think you mean 2.7K/4K. 27,000K would be equivalent to high noon at the equator with no clouds in light comparison.

Yeah, that's different. What you're doing is blending some diodes with less phosphor with others that have more and also changing the wattage to a small degree. What I described is when the driver malfunctions and overdrives some of the diodes to the point where they experience catastrophic failure and lose all or most of their phosphorus coating. You end up with an indigo/violet hued light in the low nm range.

I actually worked for the company that invented the blending tech you are using and HD was our number one client for this.

yep one extra 0 in there

the lights i got from HD are not 'user serviceable' but is there any way to check to see if something like you describing happened from the outside?

the low nm light your talking about is or almost in the UV right? that would make sense this definitely had a UV quality but not like a blacklight.

You would need to remove the lens and look at the LED board.

i feel like that is a little involved

i don't want to unwire and rewire it

ill just assume that is what happened

The lens should be easily removeable, no wiring involved.

See I was close I say swamp gas you say phosgene gas (hehehehe I know better)

Seriously though quick question you have an expertise in led lighting if you ever have time perhaps you could help me select the best sort of lighting for a fabrication/art project I’ve been working on, the lighting and the way I wish it to look and work is a challenge to me.
