I can't really take any denouncements or criticism this guy would have for the Ukrainians at face value, whilst he's sitting in captivity.
BUT, what I find curious, and perhaps I haven't been paying sufficient attention, is the lack of competing media appearances or interviews that
Ukrainian forces ought to be putting forward portraying their questioning of Russian captives.
Hmm. Is it the case that the Ukrainians haven't captured many Russian prisoners? Or is the case that Russian prisoners haven't remained upright and
breathing for very long once entering Ukrainian custody.
The only thing this man says that holds any modicum of weight with me is the description of equipment and vehicles that he /alleges/ (have to qualify
that) that the Ukrainians were in possession of, that appeared to be rather new e.g. U.S. Humvees.
If this is true, it's unconscionable that with the state of play in our own country, with all of the concerns we have, that mint, new, expen$ive
equipment is finding its way into this war zone. Now, maybe this wasn't procured from Uncle Sam; maybe it was bought and paid for by intermediaries,
arms dealers, the like.
Sanctions should be the ONLY thing that the U.S. is even considering. The idea that someone is potentially war profiteering off of this is beyond
disgusting. Are these items being paid for in U.$. currency? In I.O.U.s? In exchange for burying information or surfacing key bits of information?
Also, from afar, it seems like juuuust enough equipment, material support and warm bodies are being injected into this mess to keep it simmering at a
slow boil. Again, WHY. What possible good does it do for the Ukrainians to keep this conflict lurching along, without really having any reasonable
shot of ejecting the Russians.
Sorry, this entire deal, ALL of it, STINKS, it smells ROTTEN.
The Russians, in my view, lost a huge chunk of moral high ground in this affiar when they went past just securing Donbass, but it also shouldn't be
lost on objective observers that there is a long, messy preface (events of 2014) that the Ukrainians and their Western overlords (one of which that's
sitting in the W.H.) had a hand in.
I think there are players on both sides that are not losing any sleep the longer this goes on, and they have vested interest in keeping all of this
War Churn, social, economic, and diplomatic, sloshing about in Ukraine.
