Im kind of on the fence. If I had a choice given by the state I would probably select lethal injection. I know its morbid what do you think?

When I heard they were Swiss I was really hoping that they'd have a little wooden house on top.

When the jobs done, a little clockwork cuckoo could pop out and signal you were heaven bound.

Yup.. Utah uses / used (2004 it was banned) firing squad method. You are restrained to a chair and a white circle is over the heart. 5 officers (Utah used certified police officers as executioners) are behind a wall with an opening for the gun to go through. In front is a black cloth, hiding the gun. Out of 5 guns, only 1 is loaded with a real round, with the others being blanks. Officers are not told who has the live round and the names / identity of the officers are hidden.

Utah used .30 caliber Winchester rifles.

Death Penalty By Firing Squad: How Is It Carried Out?

Based on everything I have seen and read I don't think the death penalty is a valid deterrent. People still commit the crimes where death is a possibility. Some of the people (drug cartels etc) still commit the crimes and drug cartels forgo the due process and their methods are a lot less dainty than the states / Federal governments.

Also, the other reasons states are looking for alternative methods. The drug makers are refusing to sell states the required drugs to carry out executions. Some states have been trying to go to a single drug method but because its never been used in some states they have no guarantees the drug would work as intended (going to the NO cruel and unusual punishment clause).

I would rather have at least 2 bullets to the heart just to make sure. oh a .30 round should work

Am amazied that you get given a choice.

How about one of Switzerland's new 'death pods'?

That's crazy! Sure the pod sounds like a humane way to go but....

Patient: "I'm feeling like killing myself!"

Doctor: "Ok, here ya go!"

My opinion is we shouldn't be putting people to death in the 1st place its barbaric and we have no clue what we are doing to the other side .

My solution is cheaper and humane....heroin OD. People go out on the nod everyday. We know they won't feel pain. It is cheaper.

Yes pretty freaky considering Switzerland is home of the WEF and Ezekiel Emanuel (Chair of the WEF Future of Health Care Committee) has proposed that the Hippocratic Oath should become 'obsolete' and that 'people should choose to die at the age of 75'

Cheers.

I've replied on this before. No man or woman should kill another human being. When sentenced to death the guilty party should be dropped off in the middle (the exact middle) of the Atlantic Ocean, naked on a blow up ring. Then god decides if they should live or die. Also it gets you out of body disposal. The more serious the crime the more punctures you put in the tube.

Well if the state wanted to sentence me to death I would at least want them too have to look me on the eyes before they pulled the trigger. Seems a lot more personal...

I don't get the fuss over the drugs needed for lethal injection, why not just a hot shot of heroin? Seems to work just fine.

Given that Mr Moore is 57, I wouldn't be surprised if he might choose to die at 75.

The rest of us........Screw the WEF !

My issue is, the # of innocents that have been executed, they figure about 4% on DR are innocent. American justice is pretty bad too, only the win matters..too often anyway.

I'm sure it's still better and less restraining than being strapped to a chair or table. To me at least seems a more dignified way to go. Can look your executioner in the eyes.

IMHO it should be saved for the most heinous of crimes. In some cases i think death doesn't even bring justice.

Think Law Abiding Citizen and you're half way there to what i'd do if someone killed or abused any of my children.

That's my issue; the death penalty should be reserved for 100% confidence cases. For example, a person is on video with witnesses and DNA evidence. In that case, however, there should be no appeals, and the execution should happen no longer than one year after sentencing.

It's a difficult thing, justice is far from infallible, and screws up far too often, yet I do believe, some people probably do need to be killed.
