Step one, move first lady's food back into open area.
It's ok, she'll follow you.

Step two, look second person in the face and remind her you are not the maid, not her mom,
then ask her to try asking again like she wasn't raised in a barn.

It helps to do this all very blatantly so everyone in the shop gets the 'full show". At worst if they walk I'd pay out of my own pocket to keep mgr happy, but trust me you will make up for it ten-fold from tips other customers leave.
Calling it what it is, or as I say "throwing a elbow" places the blame where it belongs.

They'll be huffing as they run, but run they will.
This also isn't internet smack talk. Some Bosses "get it" the ones who don't get told "You pay me to work, not be abused.
Have you read my job description? Verbal abuse wasn't included". Only been fired once in 50yrs an it wasn't from a service job.

I've given up being nice and pleasant with people. If you are going to walk into my office with an air of superiority and demand I deal with Secret Jewish Space Lasers immediately or else , yea I just loveeee that or else, I will be civilly but not nicely kicking your rear end out my door.

it has happened way too often lately.

That or someone running in claiming that they are a girl (when I can see with my eyes they ain't) and why can't we all just accept it....

After a 25 year stint of being abroad almost continuously, we were stateside for several years in early 2000s. The first thing that I noticed when we got back was that almost nobody has any sense of boundaries.

In the US our strenghts are also our weaknesses. Yes we have no boundaries, but I think of places like Japan or Korea where you have to save face at every turn and live in a repressed society. I think about how (at least in the past) our breaking the boundaries lead to innovation. Maybe we need to reel those boundaries in just a tad especially with regards to how we treat ourself other people.

Don't come at me, but I really think we encourage this behavior at the highest level. For example, I think our politicians are cheered on for being rude. The more rude, the more cheers.

This are not the kind of "boundaries" I'm talking about. I'm talking about the boundaries like the OP talked about.

You should have personal boundaries that you expect me to respect. I should understand your boundaries and respect them, and if I don't, you should be able to make then clear to me and then I should respect them.

These are boundaries like respecting another person's work, not demanding and expecting unpaid favors, etc.

I'll give you an example: I had an old Xerox printer that didn't have Linux drivers. It really wasn't worth trying to sell so I put it on Craigslist for free. Some jackass contacts me and says he wants the printer. I say sure, you can pick it up this afternoon at a grocery store parking lot near where I was living at the time.

"I don't have a car. Bring it to me."

Hell no, I think. I'm offering you something for free. Out of curiosity I ask where he lives (I've already told this idiot the town where I live by indicating a pickup point.) He's about 60 miles away. I tell him by no means am I going to take three hours out of my day and burn my gasoline to bring him a free printer. The rectal orifice became livid. He fully expected me to deliver the free printer to his door. Had hard, ugly words for me (as though that would have made me see my error and changed my mind). Was seriously pissed that I wouldn't. These are the kinds of BOUNDARIES I'm talking about!

I finally relented, said I'd bring the printer to him ... for a $150 delivery fee. That shut him up.

These are the kinds of BOUNDARIES I'm talking about!

NOBODY ever got anywhere in the world ignoring those kind of boundaries!

F people. I could never work in customer service because I am way too sassy.

I would be sure that I would put the most vile smelling slop by the mop lady. Seriously, fly swatters,
Old sour rags etc.

Then

Bagel lady would get the worst coffee she ever tasted in her life.
I would then educate her on what a thief means.

That's how teens working fast food places think and act only much much worse. Those teens conspire on the most vile food retribution known to man for rude customers... be on your best behavior when dealing with food serving teens...at least that's what I heard.

Ain’t even gotta be serving you your food. Remember a year or two ago the teenage girls and boys opening ice cream as a Tik Tok challenge and licking from the bottom to the top of the ice cream with as wide a tongue as can be then putting the top back on and giggling as they return it to the freezer shelf?!?! I have a feeling with those hormonal teens that there has been far worse done at times with far more adult parts you just can’t post on tik tok so think again before eating your spotted dick...that’s a food right brits?

Coddled pampered since birth spoiled rotten ignorant brats. They have never been taught manners or the concept of boundaries. I deal with these snowflakes every day at work and am counting the minutes till I retire. Please feel free to put people like this in their place whenever needed. If your boss doesn't side with you, find a job where you ARE treated with respect.
