You would be surprised at how many active National Emergencies there currently are. Some have been renewed annually since the 1970's.

A quick glancing at the dates leads me to think it needs to renewed annually. It was declared to have begun on March 1, 2020, so it probably needs to be renewed annually or it lapses.
Let's do a quick Google... "do national emergencies need to be renewed" are the search terms.
First link is the same presser you linked to.
Second link... aha!
The National Emergencies Act, in its current form, lacks those protections. It allows the president to declare emergencies with nothing more than a signature on an executive order, and presidents can renew those emergencies every year ad infinitum. Congress can vote to end an emergency, but it effectively needs a veto-proof majority to do so.
Emergency Powers - Brennan Center for Justice
And let's double check with the actual US code listed in the presser you linked to...
(d) Automatic termination of national emergency; continuation notice from President to Congress; publication in Federal Register
Any national emergency declared by the President in accordance with this subchapter, and not otherwise previously terminated, shall terminate on the anniversary of the declaration of that emergency if, within the ninety-day period prior to each anniversary date, the President does not publish in the Federal Register and transmit to the Congress a notice stating that such emergency is to continue in effect after such anniversary.
50 U.S. Code § 1622 (d)-
So yeah. Pretty simple why it was renewed for another year: It's either renew it for a year or let it lapse.
And when has any government willingly given up power? You can probably count the instances on one hand.

All of those that are still in effect are physically renewed by the U.S. President every year?

People are still dying from this infection, therefore it is still deadly.
I expect a upward trend, but hope not.

I comfort the fearful by telling them..."7,700 people die every day in the United States, and it's a near certainty you will not be one of them today. But when your day does come, only a slim chance the cause will be Covid-19."

SO...with Covid-19 now less deadly than the common flu, why continue the Nationwide Covid-19 Pandemic Emergency? What is to be gained?
