Not sure if this is the right place, cant think of anywhere else but this guy deserves more attention for his stance on right to repair - but this is next level...

I stand with Louis. He going mental here, and Id beat the table next to him.

I discovered Louis years ago, I really appreciated how he showed you can repair the unrepairable.

He showed how large organisations are using crap like proprietary screws on devices, to restrict user service and repair.

Look at cars these days using similar tactics to restrict people from servicing and repairing their cars, just to have a stealership make more money off you.

Recently I got a quote to replace a hydraulic fluid reservoir for a selespeed gearbox, the dealer quoted 985 Australian dollars to replace it. The part cost about 250aud. Cars probably worth 3 thousand.

everyone deliberately overcharges to force obsolescence, instilling the mentality it’s cheaper to replace than repair for most things these days.

Thank god for YouTube, so many great videos showing how to fix something.

I recently watched someone needing to replace a keyboard in a mac book pro. They didn't even use screws, that had rivets.

He did it, but man, Apple are exhausting. Makes me refuse to use them in any way at all.. I miss the days of being able to just buy a new battery for my phone, now you have to become a technician just to open the thing without breaking it.

Learnt that from an old samsung tablet, where a bug got under the touch screen, and there was no videos about how to disassemble it. Sayonara screen :/
