Search needs a friend

Search is just.... well... terrible.

Terrible for a great site like ATS, which needs a decent search engine.

It should include boolean, newest, oldest, near, by: title,author, size.... naming a few.

Implement as virtual API so author does not need your data schema, just map variables in private function. Seriously....

Someone has the time for this.

Actually it sounds obscure but it is real. If you work contract for gov/defense you can never see anything on the other side.

It works the same in private sector too, one piece of a larger project. I don't think people realize how many teams it takes to develop large amounts of code, but the search would be simple enough for one person

We go to GOOGLE or elsewhere at ATS. You know that!

Pur your questions, key words,, authors/ATS...and all come up and others.

Site itself, always limited back to 2009.

Ex: UFOs over Washington/AboveTopSecret/Forums.

New owners may fix, but not in like 12 years.

ATS is our failed search, only going sitewide...not with other engines. They show all ATS...when you ask forward slash /ATS.

You have to tell DDG or Google to search ATS.

Example:

site:www.abovetopsecret.com +charlyv "data schema"

Based on search terms, sometimes DDG yields better results than Goog and other times vice versa.

Search on here has never exactly been "awesome".

IIRC this has been brought up before and for the life of me I can't remember what Skeptic's response was on the topic back in olden days.

Google could grab every query you do, and... do whatever they want with it since you can not opt out of them using your data in this way.

Yep. N just think. Look how long we've been here. And we can't ever seem to get nice things!!!

I've written before. The MAN owns all the broadcasting equip.!

If you think Tors and Onions, VPNs work....ok...but they pass thru....all the data...and who owns them? TPTB.

And every pass thru..gets snatched.
