What? So dressing is supposed to be one style for one sex only?

Tights were originally made for men. Everyone long ago used to wear a toga or long tunic, the only difference was length, the men's were shorter. High heels were made for men to keep their feet out of the blood at butcher shops. Pants were originally made for women. Heeled boots were for men to keep their feet from hanging up if they fell off a horse.

A kilt is called a kilt because that will happen to you if you call it a skirt.

Wear what you want. Comfort and usefulness is more important then fashion ever was.

Edit: Is there a record for posting first on the second page. Over half the time I post in a thread on the first page, it ends up first on the second page.

I swear by oversized denim overalls.

Comfy.

Seriously who cares? Much bigger problems in the world.

How is a baggy grey t-shirt meant for one gender or the other? What about track pants? What about sports apparel? What about cargo style work pants?

As for shoes, let’s take sneakers as an example, what’s the difference if a woman and man both wear the same pair of I dunno, green and white tennis shoes? Or should the male ones be sky blue with little trucks on them and the woman’s pink with princesses?

Who gets worked up over this stuff?

I just want comfy clothes that I can work and move in.

As a 30 year old sheet-metal apprentice, the first journeyman I worked with told me I needed a pair of ''working overalls''. With the side pockets for a couple of handy tools and the hook strap for a hammer. Bib pockets for papers and a slot for a writing utensil. ''Or don't show up tomorrow.''

Well I bought them and within two weeks found them comfortable and practical for wearing on and off the job.
So for the next forty years, other than formal dress up occasions like a wedding or funeral or two, I wore them everywhere.

I know exactly the ones you mean, because my husband swears by them! He has to wear a company uniform these days, but keeps a couple sets on his truck for some jobs. He says they're just more practical for a lot of things. He has suggested to the company's new owners that they include a couple pairs for the crews when ordering/issuing uniforms...

ETA: Gotta love good journeymen, eh? They're worth their weight in gold for apprentices...

Yeah, journeymen. My guy was already 68 and would retire at 69. He had a whole career of working at the top of our trade and for one reason or another took to me as final student, trying to stuff as much skill as he could into my head. Like the journeymen of old, true craftsmen who knew the secrets of their trades that allowed them to form unions in the first place and stand defiant in the face of the demands of royalty and the upper classes.

I was fortunate that he did.. It set me in a frame of mind that lasted my whole career.

I love that you recognize and appreciate what a great experience that was for you. It's a crying shame that those true skilled craftsmen are becoming a dying breed... or at least a retiring breed. Their skills and wisdom will be sorely missed if we don't find a way for them to pass it on. Industry (and society) need more mentors for the young.

Sadly we lost the idenity of our sexual taste in dressing ourselves.

Take it easy. I recall when women in certain churches in the south, weren't allowed makeup, jewelry, or PANTS...
🥱

Boys can't wear pink, ? This sounds similar.
Blue is a boys color???
In the 80s thumper south, so many kids in school would make issue if a guy wore a pink shirt..
All that crap can go...

Plus, why should clothes be sexualized?

Materialism is good? Showing off good?

I gave up trying to fit any fashion sense decades ago....

So did every other male American as far as I can tell! 😉

My GF often wears my clothes. I don't think anyone would mistake her for a man.

My entire wardrobe is composed of Tshirts, Levi's, and work boots. Putting on a shirt with buttons is dressing up imo.

When you choose unisex clothing, you must rely only on your taste. I do not see any big features. The unisex style is characterized by loose and spacious clothes. Ladies choose shirts with ties, a variety of pants, loose sweaters, leather pants, and boots with a small flat heels. Or hoodies like these matohash.com. The stronger sex prefers tight-fitting pants and T-shirts and shirts with frills and ruffles. Shoes are preferred, either sporty sneakers, sneakers, or soldier-style boots with thick soles. Such clothing will really help to refresh your closet and diversify your style. Now all my friends are wearing unisex clothes.
