Desert Eagle in chrome. Go large or go home!

They look cool anyway…totally impractical and limited in function, but they do look cool.

Out of the two mentioned, I’ll take the Sig any day. I’m just not a fan of how the hellcat fits my hand. I might recommend checking out the Beretta APX, too. Very comparable and a really nice shooter.

For me, though, there is no better ccw piece ever made than the Walther P99. Especially the AS compact variant.

That’s a brick. The PPK would work though.

The p99 is a “brick”?

You’ve clearly never held or fired one.

PPK is a fun plinkster. It is very outdated.

Look at a Glock G26. It's small, but, I have no problem with it and I'm a pretty good sized guy. The nice thing is that with my size I can practically make it disappear.

The Glock 26 is still a little wide and heavy for concealed carry in the summer. Fine for winter. I have one and wish I had the 43 (or 42) for everyday carry. The 26 has quite a bit of heft with 10 rounds of 9mm in it.

And yes. The P99 is a brick:

Even the P99c is big for concealed carry in the summer.

Yes, the PPK is dated, but if I had to concealed carry a Walther, that's the only real option.

You just compared a full sized to a sub compact. Come on now.

It’s all about personal preference. But telling people that a .380 is the only choice for concealed carry is just plain false. It may be what’s most comfortable for you-but myself and many, many others have no issue carrying larger caliber. And that’s all I’ll say on that, because I’m not trying to litter the thread.

I like the PPK. But it does not hold up at all.

I know, but the OP said "want something smaller for Summer/light clothing." That doesn't sound full sized to me.

compare it to the P99 compact. Still not an equal comp, but much closer.

I suspect people who talk about glocks don't get
much time at the range. If I had a dollar every time
I've seen people's glock jam up, I'd have
a few extra hundred.

Get rid of that garbage and try H & K P30

Can I ignore the two choices you asked about and recommend Walther? Their PPQs and their latest model the PDP are excellent choices for CCW. Never had an issue with Walther.

I've found that many of the Glock's problems are caused by how they are maintained. I own three of them and don't have any problems. One of the problems that I've noticed pretty much only happens with conceled carry. Lint from the clothing that covers the weapon gets into some areas of the weapon. Depending on the type of lubricant used and the type of clothing worn it is possible for it to build up in certain areas leading to jams.

If you are carrying concealed, figure in how the pistol comes out of the concealed holster or pocket and clothes. The Sig and the Springfield are very good shooters, but I would recommend only 2 pistols for concealed carry, the Smith and Wesson M&P and the Ruger Max-9. Because they both have smoothed edges that are not prone to catching on the holster or clothes when milliseconds count. If Sig would get rid of the sharp angles, I would carry that in a millisecond, but personally, I can't draw it as quick as I can my Ruger when concealed.

If you are open carrying, go for the largest capacity that will fit in your holster, LOL!

Good Luck in your search and your wife is a keeper!

The P365 SAS ("Sig Anti Snag") was meant to address the concerns you're raising about catching on clothing, etc on the draw. I was semi-interested in it last year, but I did more thinking on it, and a few different factors led me away from it.

First and foremost availability. Sigs seem very hard in my area to track down. Hardly anybody around here knew about this last year, let alone had it in stock.

Beyond that, when I looked at the sight configuration, it seemed ... kind of wonky and gimmicky. When you look at the pic at the URL, something should jump out to you which is .... the lack of any front/rear sight posts (being prime candidates for hanging up on some foreign material when you draw). The sacrifice for this pretty radical concept is some sort of novel sighting system that they sunk into the slide (?). I researched that a little bit back when I was interested, not 100% sure how it functions anymore, but it just seemed kind of complicated and maybe too radical a design to get accustomed too. Seems like target acquisition might take a lot of time to get used to looking IN to the slide, not on top of it.

The last straw was, a friend of a friend in LE highly recommended this, and his main point of persuasion was something like 'it's so small and sleek you can just throw it in your pocket!'. I chewed on that thought for a while and it didn't seem right at all. I like having the weapon locked tightly into the kydex of a comfortable holster. The idea of it jostling around in a pocket or bag seems .... not sound to me. Hope you don't chamber a round, throw it in your sweatpants, and forget this isn't your Shield with a thumb safety. Not to mention crap and lint getting up into the barrel like was mentioned in the most recent post (recipe for a malfunction).

Seems like the best way to avoid the snagging is just more practice on the draw and making sure you get a comfortable holster, and get accustomed to where it sits on your frame and how to reach for it.

As other posters suggested, try them out head to head.

If you are open to other suggestions and want something smaller and lighter, consider a .380.
The S&W bodyguard, with or without integral laser, is small, light, and surprisingly accurate. If you are used to the 1911 operating controls, consider the SIG P238. Metal frame, night sights, good accuracy. Some carry it cocked and locked but I don't.
To be honest, it is unlikely that target pistol accuracy will make any difference in the use of any CCW pistol given the ranges they will be used at and the adrenaline levels of the user. Some people carry enough ammunition for a firefight but the likelihood of needing multiple magazines is minuscule. The same goes for worry about caliber. In a self-defense encounter, any caliber will do and if showing the weapon doesn't scare off the attacker, the first warning shot through him should do the trick.

This, plus, quite often, they jam because of poor shooting technique. People have a tendency to limp wrist with glocks because of the aggressive angle on the grip
