Apparently since the move, I've earned quite a few good boy points. Not only did she buy me 2 boxes of cigars, she said I can have a new gun.

ohboyohboyohboy

I usually carry a Glock 19, but just want something smaller for Summer/light clothing. It's down to the Sig P365 or the Springfield Hellcat.
Now in MY mind I'm thinking "Why can't I have both ? ", but I won't be greedy.

Anybody actually own and carry either of these and what are the pros and cons.

Always liked the SIGs I've tried out. Can't say I am a bit fan of springfield after the XD though. Personally I am S&W guy the M&P has been great and I also really like the shield. Them M&P sold me as it was based on the 40VE which was a glock copy so much so glock sued and S&W settled out of court. The big key though is S&W makes their stuff in the US and glock outsourced to China.

Sorry about the rant...but if I had my choice I'd have the Sig.

Another vote for the Shield here. Love it.

I'm with ya on the Sig, but a friend of mine has a Hellcat and let me shoot it and it's a pretty nice little gun. I've got 2 old Sigs, the P220 and 226 and wouldn't trade them for love or money, so I'm leaning heavy toward staying with the brand.

......but damn that little Hellcat was a good shooter.

ARRRRRRRGH decisions, decisions

I would have thought you could hire them at the gun club and try before you buy.

Is that possible over there?

Whats most important is how it feels to you. I suggest finding a range which has both for rent and do a side by side.

Shield is my EDC.

I also have a Sig P320.

While I like the Shield and think it's terrific for CC, I find the Sig to be a better performer at the range, although not an apples to apples comparison (micro compact vs compact)

For me it'd be down to the Shield and P365.

Never shot the hellcat but I do have a Springfield XD which is a great gun. Springfield makes good stuff but so does SIG. I'd go handle both and see which you like more in hand.

shield plus. Please go shoot all three of them, so you get the right weapon. Or buy them all. But don't buy without trying the shield plus. I also really like the Ruger ec9, but it's only 7 shot.

The shield feels so good, I think I can shoot by feel and not aim, although I'm nowhere near that good. I'm gullible and easily led when lying to myself.

and congrats on the brownie points. "Yes dear" must have been said a few times.

Agreed, not much to add from my side about the guns in question. But many told me not to pick up the range's Beretta 92 because many said it's weird to shoot. I picked it up and fell in love instantly. Just right for my relative big hands. So glad no one wanted to shoot that one in the club, so I could always use it when I was there, before I got my own 92FS to bring with me.

I miss it, sold it a wile ago but this thread reminds me I should go to the range more often.

It's best to try, always.

No input for OP as I've never handled either- but I do have the M&P 9mm shield as my "CCW" - but I don't like it and unless I'm in the city I don't carry it.
My biggest complaint is accuracy. I know the floppy-barrel shouldn't matter, but this is the first floppy-barrel firearm I've ever used... and at 30 feet I can't get a consistent grouping. I've got a ruger revolver, a walther pistol, and I've used other walther pistols... I never have a problem getting nice tight groups with them. With the M&P or the one Glock I've ever fired... horrible accuracy.
Must just be me

What bugs me most is I have tried to figure out what they actually changed slightly in their design when they rebranded the sigma...but can't seem to fund anything. I wish I still owned that SW40VE I used to have to compare to a newer SD model.

Then I would have to say: Smith & Wesson M&P 340

Link

If you go there, you'll thank me later.

Sig.....'nuff said.

That being said, the fiancé will be getting a P365XL soon as her new carry. I carry a Shield 2.0 in warm weather and the 320 X-full in colder times.

If you are carrying concealed, figure in how the pistol comes out of the concealed holster or pocket and clothes. The Sig and the Springfield are very good shooters, but I would recommend only 2 pistols for concealed carry, the Smith and Wesson M&P and the Ruger Max-9. Because they both have smoothed edges that are not prone to catching on the holster or clothes when milliseconds count. If Sig would get rid of the sharp angles, I would carry that in a millisecond, but personally, I can't draw it as quick as I can my Ruger when concealed.

If you are open carrying, go for the largest capacity that will fit in your holster, LOL!

Good Luck in your search and your wife is a keeper!

It depends. If you want something for light clothing, you want neither of those guns.

If you have to go Glock 9mm, you should go single stack with a 43. If you are ok with a .380, you should go with the 42.

If you want to go inexpensive, the Taurus Spectrum is a good option; would highly recommend upgrading it to a stainless recoil spring. The factory spring is a pain to reinstall. This gun was designed as a concealed carry gun. Smooth edges everywhere.

The Ruger LCP II is another excellent option. They even have a .22 LR version. Throw in some hollow points and you have a pretty effective little pistol with 10+1 capacity and negligible recoil. And anyone that says a .22 LR round isn't enough for concealed carry has never been shot by one.

You just don't realize how much a gun weighs or how much "printing" you get until you try to concealed carry, especially in the summer. Definitely something single-stack, preferably .380.

Any of the pistols above will work great in a pocket holster. Inside the waistband are uncomfortable, and outside the waistband prints too much.

And never buy a SCCY CPX pistol. They require a lot of work to get them to run right.
