A twisted Russian politician has urged Vladimir Putin to fire "a ballistic missile" at the largest weapons testing site in the US as a warning. Yevgeny Alexeyevich Fyodorov - a deputy of Russia's Duma - urged the despot to push the button and launch a missile at the Nevada test range as a warning because western leaders are assuming "Putin has no trump cards in his hand." Another of the "trump cards" he proposed was the bombing of laboratories belonging to the US armed forces. Fyodorov believes that if Russia did strike its Cold War foe, the US wouldn't retaliate, the Daily Star reports.

Now see, this is the kind of talk if true that could end this world. And on top of this, other reports on twitter are surfacing of unusual plane movements in Russia towards Dubai, bunker towns, and the infamous Mount Yamantau complex.

Perhaps they are nothing that unusual, I dunno. But if a nuclear strike were coming, that would be for sure a subtle warning.

I'm pretty sure if a ICBM is headed from Russia to Nevada, USA... retaliation will be in the air as it either reaches its target, or is shot down.

Doesn't matter if it's headed for a test range or not.

If they fire a ICBM at the US, they US can't know if it's nuclear tipped or not.

WW3 would be invoked unless the US sees it's just one and logic dictates if there is one ICBM from Russia it may not be nuclear tipped. Because they would not just send one then, but everything they got, for surprise effect and travel time.

If nuclear exchange happens directly between two countries via ICBM it won't be a tit for tat, it will escalate instantly.

Yeah well that assumes it's coming from Russia. I am more worried about the ones coming from hidden subs off our coastlines.

The left's historic anti-nuclear obsession must be blamed for giving him that impression. People tried to explain to them what would happen if deterrence-theory was abandoned.

The only place that you will find the first information is the mirror.co.uk .
Please research before you post .
The Mirror has taken over for the old grocery store mag The Star .
You know , lady marries bat-boy style .

The Twit twit shows Russian air traffic .
If it meant something , no one would see it except the military intelligence agencies of the world.

I expect better from you .

Yeah? Tell that to the US fleet who was surprised by the Chinese sub... Don't you remember that story?

So says a Russian politician.... allegedly!
All governments have their crazies, a certain Mr. Graham for instance on the US side, plenty in the UK government too.

A global stand down / removal of all standing armies would remove the harm inflicted by old men in suits and the banker and corporate overlords. Without the armies there'd be no need for massive defence (usually meaning offence) spending and anyone stepping out of line gets to be banished to an island with others of their ilk. Sorted!

I wonder how many seconds of flight time there is for an SLBM launched off the Atlantic Coast to the US Capitol. (less than 30secs)

I wonder how many launch tubes there are on a Russian boomer. (16)

I wonder home many warheads there are on each missile. (6-10)

I wonder what the power comparison of one warhead is compared to Little Boy (Hiroshima) (approx 10X)

Do you have any FACTS to support your claim that people on the left want to "abandon" nuclear weapons?

Personally I don't even like the wording "nuclear capable" as it's typically used to be more dramatic... But in this case, the title should have either read "Putin told to fire nuclear capable missile", or just missile would have been fine too.

With stories like this it doesn't even hurt to throw in an allegedly to cover your bases so you don't have people as nit picky about a source. You're just throwing an alleged possible story out there.

Also, I hope this doesn't come off as super snarky. These are just suggestions for the future. No harm no foul.

I just did that and you still get nutjobs lacking reading comprehension triggered by it and starting to nitpick on you, until you are so off topic the posters intention becomes very clear.

I also remember the USS Kitty Hawk running over a Soviet sub in 1984. You are comparing apples and oranges. The Chinese sub was a diesel-electric boat. It got out in front of the Battle group and went silent. Russia's missile boats are nuclear. They can't go silent. Since this whole Ukraine mess started those boats have been tracked. Maintaince on Russia's submarines has been spotty over the last several years. That makes them detectable.

It helps the flow of the thread a lot to cover the bases early.

There are multiple tiers of stories, one using a direct quote from something on tape, straight from the horses mouth. Others quoting a named source alleging they heard it. Anonymous sources claiming said statements. And finally questionable news outlets being the only one to run the story with loaded verbiage. Even the latter doesn't make it necessarily wrong, but at the very least good reason for healthy skeptism.

With this story in particular, the Russians are notorious for being hyperbolic. They like to bring up the fact that they have nukes like frat boys like to talk their weiners.

I wonder how many "boomers" Russia has active? 8 the last time I checked.
I wonder what the maintaince condition of Russia's boomers is?
I wonder if the US Navy still shadows Russian boomers when they come out of port? They do.
I wonder if SOSUS is still active? It is.

I agree, I picked up the hyperbole in Putin's speech yesterday and with all this hyperbole, zero talk about enrichment facilities. There's a conspiracy out there about Chernobyl being built to that capability with the help of the West.

Either it's held back and evidence still collected or it's non existent.

So lack of mention about it in the speech though there was hyperbole tells me with high probability it's no true. But you are not allowed to ask that even using allegedly, maybe, provided... almost instant interference.
