Does Ukraine have a chance to survive this?

Correct me if I'm wrong...

has Ukraine's

- electricity been knocked out
- infrastructure been knocked out
- comms/Internet access been knocked out
- military and civil authorities been tracked, engaged and eliminated

The answer to all off the above, as far as I know, in "no"

I think Ukraine is going to survive just fine, but will they remain sovereign, that seems to be the question.

This is really a completely bizarre military campaign. I don't pretend to know WTF Putin is on about, and I don't believe he is trying to do anyone in the West favors.

By the same token, without doing all of the above, it doesn't seem like he's trying to pacify and utterly dissolve the existing power structure in Ukraine. My recollection of Iraq, when we invaded it, was we annihilated their infrastructure, dissolved their standing army, and in popped Haliburton and co. for the "Build Back Better!" routine of the early 2000's. This does not seem to be what is occurring in Ukraine.

Is Russia in there for smash and grab style resource acquisition? Well maybe but, would whatever their haul from that be financially equivalent to what they're losing from sanctions? Probably no, not even close?

It seems like this is about security and potentially turning Ukraine into a buffer zone. When/if Russian forces withdraw, and what government is left in their wake (I think Zelensky better dust off his high heels and comedy routine, as it seems his P.M. days are numbered), will shed more light on possible motive.

I think trying to broker a cease fire and speed up whatever resolution there can be to this should be goal number 1. "Arming" the Ukrainians is about as dumb and futile a move as you can do right now, as they have already been overrun.

But keeping this conflict chugging for a bit longer, distracting from the miraculous disappearance of COVID, and winning moral credits domestically seems like the diplomatic approach from the West.

There are motives hidden below the surface that are not being explored and talked about by anyone in our social sphere.

I don't see how Ukraine sees the end through with their sovereignty.

The Russian military is being exposed as under equipped, ill-led and incapable of fulfilling the strategy that Putin imagined.

Yes that's exactly the picture they're portraying. Deliberately. A intriguing movie so far.

But this is the same country end of day that since 1949 was deemed worthy of a arms race......in a nutshell.

I'm going to have to question if Russia or the Soviet Union EVER had a "superior military"?

I don't think either ever had a superior military to the West but the Soviet Union was certainly noticeably better than what Russia has now. Plus they had the numbers and were drilling more frequently.

It isn't a portrayal, it's a reality, they are 3 weeks in about to go on a month and still haven't taken the capital. They've lost, by conservative western intelligence, somewhere around 5-6,000 troops. That's over double in 3 weeks than what the United States lost in 20 years in Afghanistan. Think about that.

Yeah, the Russian army is getting smacked around.

Eventually we'll see this Ukraine business is a distraction from something bigger going on. Pretty scary stuff.

For their sake, I hope you're right.

I could see your scenerio play out, but only if the Russians haven't been holding back troops and resources. If they've thrown everything they have at them than it has exposed one of the biggest paper tigers we've seen in some time.

But something in me says we haven't seen all the cards played yet.

Satellite imagery is allegedly showing that they are near or at 100% commitment of the initial resources. They obviously have more troops elsewhere in Russia they can redeploy but they've basically mobilized a huge portion of the Ukrainian male population into a guerilla army.

I hope Pelosi and Schumer allow members of Congress to ask questions of Ukraine President Zelensky, during Wednesday morning's 3/16/2022 big ZOOM meeting.

Europeans aren’t Arab Muslims who pledge holy jihad to their last child. Look at France, Poland, etc during World War Two. Europeans have their own version of warfare they have been practicing for thousands of years.

The capital is empty, almost 2 million left the city. It’s a ghost town. Putin could use American military tactics, bomb the entire city to rubble and send in the marines to clean up. But that would be a war crime.

The capital is empty...

That would explain why the unstoppable Russian army is stopped outside the capital.

It's a good question. I thought this analayis by Lazerpig was interesting. He compares operation Desert Storm with the invasion of Ukraine, the comparison is night and day. There is no way Putin planned something this atrocious.

He uploaded that video on March 2. His recent video does analysis on the war so far and he gives speculation on what may happen.

From March 12. Both videos are worth the watch.

I will watch, Im pretty sure Henry Kissinger used the same vernacular when negotiating with Breshnevhe described negotiations with the then Soviets as "electric butt hole glue". This ought to be good

No it wasn't good LOL guess Im not part of laserpig's targeted demographic but even his conclusions and comparisons are highly suspect IMHO

NATO spending millions on war games.

Where's NATO when somebody really needs them ? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely right! I think NATO is proving themselves useless. If I was the head of a EU country, I'd be really worried.

Don't get me wrong wasn't offended just not in agreement with so much of his premise, I can dig a satirical look at most anything including war. But you had Ukrainian history, a much larger population and it's being supported by the US and NATO arms and munitions along with Ukrainian forces leadership and command structure, the terrain isn't as conducive to invasion. There are so many factors, but mostly the Russians can't pretend to be liberators and destroy everything, in Desert Storm this US had no such restrictions they were still more precise. No way were the Iraqis fighting as hard for Saddam and their homeland as the Ukrainians are for their homeland and Zelensky

Man what a mess of repeated history. As far as leadership, Russia has 'hitler', the U.S. has 'Chamberlain' and Ukraine has 'Churchill'. Fascinating 😎

Kiev’s ‘heroic defense’ bravado in Mariupol doesn’t fit with accounts of Ukrainian officers

RT hears from senior Ukrainian military officers who surrendered to Russian forces in Mariupol. Kiev told them they would fight to the bitter end and become heroes, but the story they told us was different.
