Ways To Get Your Prescriptions For Less

My doctor recently changed one of my prescriptions and I didn't think it was a big deal, until they told me the cost when I put in the prescription.

I was shocked at how expensive it was. Even with my insurance it was ridiculously expensive. So I went looking for a way to get the medication for less.

I found Rx Saver. It really didn't tell me a lot about how it works. Basically it just said show the coupon to the pharmacy and I would get up to an eighty percent discount.

I thought I had nothing to lose by trying. I went to pick up the medication. I told the cashier, that before she rang it up, I wanted her to look at the coupon I had on my phone, and asked if I could get the medication for the price stated on the coupon.

She looked at my phone, and said sure, I could use the coupon at their store. She was very pleasant. She rang up my medication, and it came to less than half of what I would paid with my co-pay. I got the full eighty percent off.

I really don't understand how it works. But I can attest to the fact that it does work.

Anyone know of any other service that provides even a better discount?

That’s fantastic news.
I never knew how much people get hammered for prescriptions outside of Canada.

My insurance covers me for 90% bare minimum on medications.
My weekly medication costs me $1.50.
Then after I’ve paid out of pocket $300 my meds are free for the remainder of the calendar year.

Dental is 90% as well up to $2000 a yr.

A lot of things like smoking cessation, Eye glasses and a bunch of other things are covered for a certain amount per year.

I checked them out, but they do not carry the medication I need. Even my regular pharmacy had to order it, and it took four days for them to finally get it.

I am hoping that it works, and that I can find a way to buy it even cheaper. Eighty percent off is wonderful, but it is still more expensive than I think it should be.

GoodRx offers very good deals on some medications. For my wife's medications it reduces the cost by 40%+

The other big savings most people miss is 3 month supply. Go with 90 day supply for all your maintenance meds. Under GoodRx we also switched to a 3 month supply and we now pay another 30% less.

If you spend much time looking through the prices at retail vs discount vs different providers you start to realize that pharmaceuticals are highly manipulated at market. It's obvious the system is completely broken and I suspect most of it is intentionally so.

Well Rx was $20.00 more expensive. Good Rx was the same.

It is definitely broken when your co-pay is 50% higher than what you you pay without insurance.

I am going to have to move it with @andy06shake if they don't get this mess straightened out soon.
